Say it ain't so
I may have prematurely written off the Maple Leafs. With a little assist from the refs last night they managed to win their second in a row and push the series to game 7 in Boston. A change of fate for the Leafs or stringing their fans along for more heartbreak? Remains to be seen. Even if proven wrong, I do not regret any hate or mockery I have directed towards the Leafs.
On the basketball side of things we had one laugher with the Pacers easily dispatching the Bucks and one incredible game between the Knicks and 76ers. Early it looked like the Knicks would make it a laugher jumping out to a 1st quarter lead of 18 points but Philly fought back and even took the lead in the second half. However, Jalen Brunson (who I am giving the nickname of Stone Cold Killer) was simply too much for the 76ers. Why again did the Mavs let that guy go?
More potential elimination games in both sports tonight. It shall be fun.
Friday has arrived quickly, so I will be posting the week 6 MLB Survivor pool selection post from @MLBofficialscorer shortly.

My last comment to KR before he "stepped away" from SN was trolling him about the Leafs. I regret nothing.

You know, if the Leafs win the cup I'll have no way to zap @kr. Oh well.

Embiid's teammates almost completed an amazing carry job, down the stretch.

I really like Maxey.

He's been great.

I need to make a post about how wrong I was about the trade

Yeah, you definitely weren't happy with the trade. It worked out well for the Raptors too. IQ and Barrett shaping up to be core pieces for them along with Barnes.

What do you think of Keon Coleman? Man, I don't know if that guy is going to be a great player but he is one hell of a character.
reply
Yeah I am calling him Gabe Davis 1.5. Slightly better hands and much better athlete but I think he will struggle in the NFL.
I just think hey Tom Brady made it work with scraps for decades if Josh Allen is great then make it work. I have little to no sympathy when these QBs take on huge salaries. Something Tom never did which I commended

Especially with the way WR and OLine guys are getting paid now. If you have an expensive QB it's hard to compliment them with pro bowl caliber players. 49ers are going to have to make some tough decisions starting next offseason when they have the option to extend Purdy.
reply
Yeah with a salary cap you have to be mindful but it’s all about the money never the glory

I hadn't really paid attention to the Pat Bev incident. When I heard that he threw a ball at a fan, I at least assumed it was a man that he hit. McAfee's roasting him over it.
Maybe this would make for a fun thread, but that was the biggest bitch move I can remember, especially with his whiny tweet about the incident.

Yeah, that Brunson performance was epic. Though I would have been perfectly pleased if they hadn't let the Sixers back in the game, even if it would have made for less compelling TV.
reply
On to the next one regardless of the rollercoaster ride. I think the Knicks have a shot to go to the finals.

I don't think Brunson would be who he is today if he had kept playing under the shadow of Luka. He simply wouldn't have the opportunity to shine so bright.
That Knicks vs 76ers game was quite something. I was rooting for the Knicks in the series, so I was happy to see them win. But wtf is up with Tobias Harris? 0 points with 29 minutes played. Then this moment immediately came to mind as I was having those questions.
As for the Pacers vs Bucks game, can we give some props to the supporting cast? Namely, C J McConnell and Obi Topping. C J had 20 points, 9 assists, 2 rebounds with 23 minutes played. Obi had 21 points, 2 assists, 8 rebounds with 24 minutes played. Those numbers are insane if you factor in the minutes played and what is expected from them.
Regarding the Leafs and Bruins series, if the Bruins lose the next game, it would be the second season in a row that they blew a 3-1 series lead. Probably would be the first time for a NHL team to do that 2 years in a row? (I'm not sure, so fact check me on that.) Let's hope that gives the Bruins some extra motivation to win the next game.

Good point regarding Brunson and the Mavs. Sometimes guys just need a change of scenery to flourish.
