Entertainment (n.)
1530s, "provision for support of a retainer; manner of social behavior," now obsolete, along with other 16c. Senses; from entertain + -ment. Meaning "the amusement of someone" is from 1610s; sense of "that which entertains" is from 1650s; that of "public performance or display meant to amuse" is from 1727.
Entertain (v.)
Late 15c., "to keep up, maintain, to keep (someone) in a certain frame of mind," from Old French entretenir "hold together, stick together, support" (12c.), from entre- "among" (from Latin inter; see inter-) + tenor "to hold" (from Latin tenere, from PIE root *ten- "to stretch"). (From etymonline.com)
Sense of "have a guest" is late 15c.; that of "gratify, amuse" is 1620s. Meaning "to allow (something) to consideration, take into the mind" (of opinions, notions, etc.) is 1610s. Related: Entertained; entertaining.
I've been in the Stacker News community for a few weeks. I noticed that there was not a place for such things as entertainment and I may not be the most qualified to speak on such things, I do deeply care for the subject in general and I feel as though the BitCoin community in general does not yet have a true appreciation of the power of entertainment.
Entertainment permeates society in general. Like it is stated in Bernays Propaganda: "We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized." This is true and Entertainment is a sneaky gateway into our hearts and minds.
Now I can understand an objection to being entertained as to wanting to not endure illusions. This is a needed discipline. Illusions, however, are great tools, in fact some illusions help us shatter other illusions. Think about Plato's Cave or Taking the Red Pill or The man Behind the Curtain. In Flatland, Abbot helped us imagine what a reality of extra dimensions would appear to us by having us imagine living in a two dimension world. Mathematician Hilbert confronts us with the impracticality of infinite numbers by having us imagine an infinite hotel that being completely full can still accommodate another infinite set of infinite guests.
How many times do you speak to people about BitCoin, and they believe it to be a criminal or terrorist like money. As if suitcases of USD was suddenly replaced with BTC. I believe shows like The Blacklist is responsible for such views. The news in general doesn't help BTC reputation either. I can't recall how many times an obituary for BTC has been announced because of a 20% drop n price. This is where the community needs to win battles. In entertaining people and influencing the public.
Another Objection could be this: the public is rather stupid or at the very least gullible, and we shouldn't waste time waking the dead. Fair enough, we can't possibly reach out to many of these people as they already seem to be the walking dead. Whether it is making Entertainment or criticizing it we can obtain a gateway to our own way of thinking outside of the established and sick views of the Hollywood and entertainment Elite that have, especially in recent decades, largely failed to bring us quality and inventively continue to push the cultural decay the DEI and ESG messaging.
In short BTC will fail if we can not bring the best message of BTC to the public. We need a respect for Entertainment, and we need to produce our own and discuss the good and the bad of the Culture's entertainment. We need to understand the messaging that is being pushed on society, and we need to counter it. I feel as though Entertainment is ignored by many intelligent people at our peril. Attempt to imagine De Beers Diamond Cartel without the influence of Hollywood sell us their common stones without the power of Hollywood propaganda introducing the idea of engagement rings and "Diamonds are Forever." That is the impact of Entertainment. Programs like Will & Grace, likely cleared the way for Gay Marriage. If you recall back in time before the court ruling on Gay Marriage Zero politicians publicly supported it. But weekly the public was exposed to gay friends on their TV screens and it pushed the way into the public eye and made it normal to people who otherwise didn't bother to know.
Now, what would the world where BTC is successful look like? What kind of conflicts would still exist and which ones would be regulated to the past?
This is why I started this territory and I look forward to greater participation. Please help me make this a great place. Thanks.
Good luck on the territory.
As a side note, I don't often see BitCoin written with a capital C these days ;)
As indicated by the use of the smiley, this has some entertainment value to me already.

Any plans in regards to getting people more involved with the territory?
It's a BTC-centric place where topics directly related to BTC will naturally be used more, meaning that topics which don't fit the bill directly might need to be creative in getting people involved with the territory. 🌞😃
