Habits are hard to break. Have been using Bitrefill to buy my gift cards for at least 20 transactions, and the purchase process is as well oiled as my favourite pair of shoes.
Finally got down to register an account with The Bitcoin Company because why not? And it seemed to me that it offers a greater cashback for some of its participating merchants, whereas Bitrefill offers a flat 1% cashback (if at all).
Happy to use part of the sats I have accumulated to buy a food takeout gift card from The Bitcoin Company:
True enough, it offers 2.8% cashback.
I copied the invoice generated from The Bitcoin Company:
and pasted it on Stacker News:
Success! Found the gift card inside my super app. Earned 495 sats in the process.
I can see myself using The Bitcoin Company more often from now on. Back to stacking sats.
Will post this on my personal blog in hopes to earn my one cent of the day.

@DarthCoin hisses at the people using this service some times claiming it’s a VISA company and you’re just supporting the enemy when using it perhaps even hampering bitcoin adoption.
There’s a good argument to be had there if you’re actually buying VISA credit cards however if you’re buying gift cards with bitcoin using the bitcoin company as the third party you are lowering the amount of middle men by quite a lot. Sure, it’s not as ideal as directly trading your sats for a good or service but at least we can lower the amount of banks involved this way. Now there is only three parties involved: consumer, btc company, and the business. That’s great!!
I wonder if these types of business will see legislative attacks in the US as well….

Never read him saying this about them. Think you are thinking of Fold

Thanks for this. I'd been using Bitrefill as well (largely out of inertia), but am planning to try BTC next time I'm looking to make a grocery run.

Inertia sounds so much better than procrastination. Thanks, now that this word is salient in my mind, I will use it more often

Works probably well with satsbacks and gift cards, but the prepaid Visa was a bit of a hassle last year because the card can get blocked easily if you use it with VPN or to pay for subscriptions.

Nice. I should have sent you my referral code.

I used another Stacker’s referral code, sorry about that
