I had a fantastic time at my first bitcoin meetup aside from PubKey events last night. I think I'll do a write up about it in a few days, but I must mention this. I'm a little hard of hearing, so after one guy introduced himself to the group I wasn't sure if I missed his name. I asked him what his name was again, and, without skipping a beat, he smirked and said "nice try, fed." I knew I would feel at home.

you should call him "nice try, fed" from now on

Good idea. I can tell he's an interesting character. He doesn't work a conventional job. He's a full time "bitcoin evangelist."

🤣🤣🤣
but then aren't you supposed to make friends at the meetups - what if you met someone really interesting, how to balance that
reply
True. It was surprising to me. Other than him, everyone seemed very open and not guarding their privacy at all.

did you introduce yourself as Siggy? what if someone from SN is also there and recognized you, it could be quite fun but also a bit dox yourself?
reply
You know, I have a heck of a time avoiding saying my real name to people in person. I slipped up at the beginning. I once went to PubKey and was sitting next to Peter MacCormack at the bar. We introduced ourselves and I screwed up, then said Siggy. He said "hah! You doxxed yourself!"

I think @nemo is thinking "what the hell is wrong with Siggy and everyone else on SN? You should all stop posting."
