It's Saturday, thus it is poll day!
This story of the mayhem that occurred yesterday morning at the PGA championship that culminated in the world's number 1 golfer getting arrested reminded me of a discussion @siggy47 and I had last year where we swapped stories of getting kicked out of sporting events in our younger days.
So, a fun one today. Have you ever been kicked out of a sporting event?

Been warned many times because of chirping at the refs/umpires
reply
Heckling the refs/umps is so much fun.

My friends and I had always been the quiet type, so we are probably the last ones that will get ourselves thrown out.
It took double OT for the Stars to take care of business last night, but they have eliminated the Avalanche and advanced to the WCF. Only one series remain to be decided in round two and hopefully the Canucks will get it done tonight. I'm loving the underdog story and the third string goalie story. Would make it extra sweet if they can make it to the WCF, first time since 2011. Go Canucks go!
On the NBA side of things, already 2 series going to game 7. Will the young Thunder make it to game 7, or will Luka and Kyrie take care of business at home? Either way, I've been really enjoying these playoff games.
reply
I am hoping the Thunder can pull it out tonight.
reply
I'm also hoping for that, but I think Dallas has their number.
Of course, I also thought Denver had Minnesota's number and before that I thought Minnesota had Denver's number, so I may not be tapped into who has who's number.
reply
I'm rooting for the Thunder and SGA as well. The ups and downs and unpredictability of this playoffs were part of what make it extra fun. Let's see how it goes tonight.
reply
SGA doing SGA things

I'm still back in the 2nd quarter. Signing off for a bit to catch up and avoid spoilers.

I skipped ahead, because the audio was all screwed up. Looks like we're coming right down to the wire.
Kyrie being Kyrie (in the good way)

I'm not able to catch the game because wife went out of town and I promised the kids to take them to dine out then to the playground. Only able to check the score regularly. I'll have to stick to the highlights tonight when I get home.
Sounds like an exciting game.
I didn't realize we had so many bad hombres in our midst.

It is the wild west after all. Some of us need to be outlaws.

SN is a safe and private space, emphasis on private and I don’t care if privacy violates the nonaggression principle lol

Only one time. We had great seats in Anaheim and my drunk friend (now in a twelve step program) was viciously abusing Reggie Jackson as he sat in the dugout. The worst part is that we were sitting in the Cleveland Indians owner's box. It's a long story.

Seinfeld episode!
You can’t wear the orioles hat!
Your friend was Billy Martin!
reply
You heckled Mr October from the Indians owner's box?
That's hilarious.
reply
He was not Mr October with the angels. Past his prime with the angels
reply
Is anyone ever in their prime with the Angels?
reply
Trout and Shohei
But your question answered itself
reply
Yes, I thought of Trout and Ohtani but they both started their career with Angels. I more meant guys like Rendon who had success elsewhere then come to Angels with big deals and hype and then suck. Haha.
reply
Most free agent signings have been a major disappointment
reply
Hopefully they do a proper rebuild this time around.
I remember taking my son to Angels stadium when he was 4 and prior to the game we were watching the players warm up down the RF line. My son wanted to climb over the wall and go on the field. He had a glove like the players did so he couldn't understand why he couldn't play. Fond memories.
After the game. I was telling my buddy about it and he said "you should have let him go, then you would have an excuse to run on the field".
I sat there and watched the spectacle like everyone else. Then I got tossed for being the lunatic's friend. It was a family tradition with this guy. One night his parents were watching the late night news when they saw a segment about some drunk idiot running on the field during a Cleveland Indians game. They looked closer. The drunk idiot was their son.
reply
How did you sit in the owners box?
Your friend sounds like fun and I mean it in a good way!
reply
My friend's grandfather had owned an old Cleveland ironworks company that got wiped out during the rust belt years. The family who owned the Indians were friendly with him. The families maintained their friendship. He could get great seats to baseball games through that family. I remember we went to Game 6 of the 1979 World Series in Baltimore also.

Earl Weaver lost another World Series in a seventh game
I believe he lost twice to the pirates and once to the miracle Mets.
But he is still my favorite manager. He was ahead of his time using statistics and money ball.
Pitching, defense and three run homer.
Don’t sacrifice and don’t steal bases. We have 27 precious outs.
Davey Johnson played for earl weaver in Baltimore and managed like him. Platooning was big with both. Stacking right handed hitters vs left handed pitcher was a common strategy.
reply
I remember the Orioles had John Denver climb on the top of the dugout and sing Thank God I'm a Country Boy live during the 7th inning stretch.
I believe Davey Johnson made the last out in the 69 series.
reply
Davey managed the Mets and the Orioles
I play Cricket and we require 11 players to form a team so some weak players are also welcome sometimes. I remember, I was once kicked out of the game but then they took me back because I had a good bat!
