You heckled Mr October from the Indians owner's box?
That's hilarious.
He was not Mr October with the angels. Past his prime with the angels
reply
Is anyone ever in their prime with the Angels?
reply
Trout and Shohei
But your question answered itself
reply
Yes, I thought of Trout and Ohtani but they both started their career with Angels. I more meant guys like Rendon who had success elsewhere then come to Angels with big deals and hype and then suck. Haha.
reply
Most free agent signings have been a major disappointment

Hopefully they do a proper rebuild this time around.
I remember taking my son to Angels stadium when he was 4 and prior to the game we were watching the players warm up down the RF line. My son wanted to climb over the wall and go on the field. He had a glove like the players did so he couldn't understand why he couldn't play. Fond memories.
After the game. I was telling my buddy about it and he said "you should have let him go, then you would have an excuse to run on the field".

I sat there and watched the spectacle like everyone else. Then I got tossed for being the lunatic's friend. It was a family tradition with this guy. One night his parents were watching the late night news when they saw a segment about some drunk idiot running on the field during a Cleveland Indians game. They looked closer. The drunk idiot was their son.

How did you sit in the owners box?
Your friend sounds like fun and I mean it in a good way!
reply
My friend's grandfather had owned an old Cleveland ironworks company that got wiped out during the rust belt years. The family who owned the Indians were friendly with him. The families maintained their friendship. He could get great seats to baseball games through that family. I remember we went to Game 6 of the 1979 World Series in Baltimore also.

Earl Weaver lost another World Series in a seventh game
I believe he lost twice to the pirates and once to the miracle Mets.
But he is still my favorite manager. He was ahead of his time using statistics and money ball.
Pitching, defense and three run homer.
Don’t sacrifice and don’t steal bases. We have 27 precious outs.
Davey Johnson played for earl weaver in Baltimore and managed like him. Platooning was big with both. Stacking right handed hitters vs left handed pitcher was a common strategy.

I remember the Orioles had John Denver climb on the top of the dugout and sing Thank God I'm a Country Boy live during the 7th inning stretch.
I believe Davey Johnson made the last out in the 69 series.
reply
Davey managed the Mets and the Orioles
