This is an interesting take from a former basketball player by the name of Royce White.
I vividly remember Royce when he came out of Iowa State and was basically being mocked for being afraid to fly thus making him a head case and kicked out the NBA. What’s interesting here is how Royce explains how the NBA suppresses its players from having critical thought.
As Royce speaks you can tell he has intellectual capacity and can understand complex topics. Also he displayed a commitment to his own values over the pursuit of money. Once he questioned the NBA on their lack of a mental health policy they told him to just shut up and play ball and think about all the millions he could earn. He refused and thus the NBA blackballed and ridiculed him.
Now Royce is deep into politics (having won the GOP nomination for the Minnesota Senate race this fall) and it is interesting to see him speak about the NBA and how the league treats it’s players. I don’t agree with everything he does or says but it seems like he’s for the people.
