A Review of The Fiat Standard by @saifedean and #Bitcoin news from the past week.

Saifedean's book is an inspired follow-up to is very popular The BItcoin Standard. The Fiat Standard is a complement to the previous book in that it examines The Fiat System given what we know about #Bitcoin. There are 3 major parts to the book: Fiat Money (examining how fiat works from an engineering perspective), Fiat Life (examining the 2nd and 3rd order effects of fiat money) and Fiat Liquidator (showing how Bitcoin fixes a lot of the market distortions) Fiat Money is all about how the current system of Central Banking came about and specifically why such a system came into existence. The concept of salability across space is one that you will learn here and it explains why people willingly gave up their gold. Fiat Life shows how parts of the economy as diverse as food, science, energy and international development have been seriously compromised by the existence of fiat money. He shows how government interference causes market distortions and it's led to a lot of societal problems. Fiat Liquidator is about Bitcoin and why it's superior to both gold and fiat money. He goes through the various complaints of critics and doomsayers and dismantles them all. Overall, the book is an excellent summation of how fiat works and why it's so destructive to civilization.
