People are not very sarcastic in India are they? In North America we often use sarcasm to lighten the mood or relay a point of view on a contentious issue but I have noticed Indian folks often take us seriously when we are being sarcastic.

Yes, it is definitely true. But it's not the fault of American people, it's the nature of Indians that while talking they can either be serious or joking. No midlines!!!
