How in the world did these guys get into office?
And, how can we replicate that?
So, how did this happen?
First, we failed miserably many, many times, for decades and decades, including the very last attempt 4 years prior to Milei's success. An eerie example I found soon after getting involved was an abandoned web page from the 2001 crisis era where many representatives from the time eagerly called argentinians for a last stand before diving into socialistic decadence. The creepiest thing was to read the very same words I thought as new in my own time. Truly gave me a "Man in the Castle" feeling.
So, what changed? The context was as bad as dozens of times before, the boomers where just about to initialize the next cycle as usual, devoid of any sense of cause and effect, oblivious of what that cloudily abstract "state" thing is, and ever unable to identify an action with the name (any boomer here will tell you that socialism in any form is terrible, and that the good way to do things is [proceeds to describe socialism in a way that Stalin would consider extreme]).
What saved us was a mixture of many factors, but it all boils down to one core workforce: teens sharing memes of milei in tiktok. Yes. You read that right. How?
  • We have all thankfully evolved in a society that is not as militaristic-strict regarding the father-son relationship in the way that was before, to the point that most fathers will hear and give great value to the opinions of their sons.
  • Fathers were devastated on the increasingly large emigration of the youth, and feared their sons would have to do the same too.
  • The emergence of playful social media as tiktok and the ravish and genuine nature of Milei caused him to be a loved character within the teens, prompting most of them to later pay attention to what he was actually saying, out of sympathy.
  • The crucial emergence of a whole generation of independent, self made young political influencers who came up organically, all of them right leaned, who made their way solely via social media. The where (are) no less than an angular stone in the process, since they all had very original, humoristic, genuinely passionate attitudes and styles that made them look cool when talking about such cumbersome topics, thus being highly appealing to a young audience that was also looking for answers. I have not seen anything even remotely similar, regarding impact and scale, anywhere else. The are truly a local phenomenon.
  • With all that material, the kids where able to differentiate A from B, thinking "if this situation is caused by the state, then what milei proposes must be the way out".
  • Having no hesitation to talk with their fathers about delicate and opinionated topics, the kids transmitted the message to the fathers who, even if not understanding or directly against, weighed the message.
  • Even still the boomers left us right at the edge of the abyss yet once again when last year they voted in masse to another socialist candidate (who "opposed" the one office), because, in their own words, "he is more groomed, milei screams too much". I'm not joking nor exaggerating in the slightest, that was the beginning and the end of their analysis. That almost changed the history completely, for they caused the opposition to win the first round of elections leaving Javier second. We where saved from their stupidity solely because the difference in percentage was smaller than the minimum required (thanks to the kids that voted in masse for milei and the fathers that followed their advice out of love), so we passed to the second and last round. We had only one shot left.
  • With their kids enraged at their stupidity, and the socialist they didn't liked running first, boomers had no option but to vote for milei much to their regret, which they expressed constantly and loudly. The rest is history.
So that's it. That's the secret.

(And in case you ask, no, up to this day, boomers still have absolutely no idea of what's going on. Sure I know this might sound like I have some kind of personal trauma with boomers, but no, I wish that was the case... so much.. )

That's very interesting.
I was certainly expecting one of the causes to be generations of failed socialist experiments, but I had no idea about the emigration and family separation angle.

I'm glad this answered your question :)

So glad you ask :) Would you make a separate post postulating this, so we can debate there? It's a whole topic in itself and I think it will of the interest of many
reply
I don’t want to debate. I just want the recipe, but I’ll see if I can get a post up to cover the topic.

Wait me a little, I will answer

But I do want to fight unnecessarily even if we agree :'( ... have you learned nothing about politics? .. see? that's the problem right there..
