Howdy Cricket Lovers!!
So, that's the first big upset of this T20 World Cup!!! Who would have thought pakistan to be so fragile!! But that's what Cricket is all about!
Yesterday, I said that USA are my favourites to win this game. I was sure that they were about to write an underdog story. They did it and I can assure everone that USA will be the team to reach to the quarterfinals alongwith India from this group. As for Pakistan, theh now have to beat every team including India, which isn't going to be easy.
With that being said, let's have a look t the pool stats—

Participating Stackers:

Eliminations

All of you can still participate by just zapping 319 Sats to the pinned comment with your nym under this post. This rejoin zap will also be included to the prize pool.

Important:

After pondering over the rule of missing Participation and incorrect predictions for 3 matches, I can to realize that three matches for elimination is a very small number considering the tournament will have 50+ matches. With only three matches the accuracy needs to be above 94% rest you're eliminated. So, I'm thinking of changing this rule to 5 or 7 matches at least. I need your suggestions on this.

Stackers nearing Elimination:

@Undisciplined -1 for losing USA vs Pakistan @BitcoinAbhi -1 for losing USA vs Pakistan @MB -2 for losing USA vs PAK, for PNG vs Uganda @MANI -2 losing USA vs PAK, for PNG vs Uganda @suraz -2 for losing USA vs PAK, for PNG vs Uganda @astro_penguin -2 for losing USA vs PAK, for PNG vs Uganda

Current Prize Pool: 3182 Sats -10% for fees

Next Matches lined up:

  1. Canada vs Ireland
  2. Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh
  3. Newzealand vs Afghanistan
  4. Netherlands vs South Africa
  5. Australia vs England

Note—

Because I can't post this pool thread in time and the first match between Canada vs Ireland is just about to begin in less than 3 hours time, the prediction for this match won't affect your pool stats.

How to participate?

You just need to write the names of your winners for all the matches as mentioned above in the comment box down under and enjoy the most unpredictable sport!!
In case you are new and wanna join the pool, you still can by asking me and zapping one specific comment from me.

I'd say it's better to keep the original rules and see how it goes. We always learn something to tweak for the next tournament. Plus, the rebuy makes it close to seven anyway.
Ireland Sri Lanka New Zealand South Africa Australia
reply
Thanks.
Yes rebuy is definitely one plus of original rules ..
reply
I edited my initial comment to add my picks.

I suggest you leave it at 3 losses but allow people to zap back in as you have a couple times.
reply
Sure! That's the best we should do. The pool should increase and with that the interest as well.
reply
Ireland, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia,
Zapped… and hoping for better luck this time. I can talk about Duckworth-Lewis for a solid hour but I can’t predict matches…. Proof-of-idiot

Thanks! Good Luck, friend!!

I'm watching USA-Pakistan highlights. Everyone in the stands are screaming. I wish I knew what the hell was going on. I did appreciate an incredible catch by a US player.
reply
Steve Taylor? Single handed off the bat of Rizwan?
reply
Yes
reply
Yeah. That’s a pretty special catch. If you are watching the Australia v England game watch for a fielder/bowler called Chris Jordan (also quite handy with the bat)
reply
Yes we're aware of Jordan. Excellent depth bowler, excellent catcher and a fine slogger at the back end.
reply
That was one heck of a catch! Not easy for such a big fellow to dive and grab.
reply
Speaking of a big fellow, there was a guy on the Pakistan team who some might categorize as downright obese. I got a kick out of that.
reply
Have you heard about Inzamam ul Haq?
reply
I just read about him. I guess he was a great player?
reply
Yes, he was a great player. IMO, he was the greatest of all Pakistani batsmen and a very humble human being.
reply
One of the greatest batsman Pakistan ever produced.
reply
Yeah! That food panda guy 😂 He's known for big hits goes berserk at spinners on his day but his day only comes once in a blue moon
reply
Azam Khan. First rule of commenting on PakistanI cricket selection ‘Do not talk about Azam Khan’…. Handy with the bat but had a tough spell with the gloves in the game before last.
reply
LOL! He's the son of former wicket-keeper captain Moin Khan so yeah, no point talking about his selection 😂
reply
Pakistani board is quite liberal with corruption in selections.
reply
Idk about corruption but it's plain favouritism, nepotism. Senior players including Babar prioritising friendships over merit therefore, here they are.
reply
Watching a cricket match inside a stadium is a very different experience. People cheer Home team more but sometimes for some countries like India, their fans are found everywhere.
In india, the noise inside a cricket stadium generally filled with 100k people gets so deafening that it creates an environment of a meditation where you have one objective only and that's cricket.
reply
I think it was the one @carlosfandango described.
reply
You should check out some of the crowd catches over the years. Big sums of money for a clean, one-handed crowd catch off a ‘6’ on tv
reply
I know these are 5year old kid questions for you, but a 6 is into the crowd on a fly, and a 4 is into the crowd on one bounce?
reply
A 4 can even be with as many bounces as it can take.
Actually there's a rope around the ground nearly 60 to 70 metres from the pitch. If a bowl crosses that rope on the fly, it is a six. If the ball crosses that rope through the ground, it's a 4.
reply
Okay. That alleviates a lot of confusion. I still have plenty left, though.
reply
Yeah - I really haven’t helped…. Lol
For a 4, can it bounced off a fielder? (muffed catch)
reply
Yes. Or the catcher touched the boundary rope while holding the ball.

Have to agree that there is nothing better than watching cricket in a stadium. The crowds for depending on the format makes such a difference. Personally I love watching test match cricket like but the atmosphere in T20 is something else!

I'm sorry to inform you that the matches for Bangladesh and Afganistan are already over and because you did not predict the result in time, it is counted as missed participation.

Afganistan!!! You've made a right choice..
reply
You all bet against Canada. The temerity. Sleep in the bed you have made for yourselves.
reply
Another upset on the way? Ireland are in deep trouble with 60/6 in 12.3 overs.
reply
Cricket 🦗🦗🦗🦗
reply
I can sense more upsets happening as the tournament progresses...
reply
Canada, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia
reply
You got it right and I really could smell a Canadian victory just when they scored in excess of 120.
Congratulations!!!!
reply
And the prize they get is to play India tomorrow.
When I look at the scores sometimes it says "won by x runs" and other times it says "won by x wickets". Why is that? Isn't the score always based on the run total?
reply
150 sats \ 2 replies \ @MANI 7 Jun
Won by x runs means "If Canada bats first and puts 150 on board with 151 being the target for the other team and if that team fails to score the required 151 and for example gets bowled on 120 short of 30 runs therefore, Canada is declared winner by that margin.
And if for example Ireland scores 150 and Canada chases that down at the cost of only 5 wickets then they will be declared winners by the remaining amount of wickets.
Hope I did not make it more complicated.
reply
Great. This makes perfect sense now. Thanks for clarifying.

Glad to e of any help

I know the pitch sucks, but the local economy on Long Island is excited, especially for the India/Pakistan match. https://www.newsday.com/long-island/towns/cricket-t20-world-cup-economy-udqs7vk4
reply
An India-Pakistan match can be the biggest match of any tournament for providing a boost to the local economies.
This is not a small ground there. It can occupy 34000 people and it's a housefull on the match day already. Noe talk about from where do we get these 34000 people?
Most of these are Indians and Pakistanis who are living in the USA. I've listened that the car parking prices inside the stadium is already full and the price for car parking has already shot up to $1200.
The atmosphere of India Pakistan match is likely to be compared with France-germany or Brazil-Argentina football matches..
reply
Does it get violent? New York has a long history of immigrant rivalries getting ugly.
reply
Fierst rivalry is there, words get exchanged, and stuff but it never gets to that stage. Off the field players and fans are very friendly and respect eachother but on-field its a different story.
reply
No, it never gets to that level. But, yes there may be little bit of cross hooting from either sides. Indians have always been winning on the pitch and in the stands!!
reply
Indeed. The greatest rivalry ever existed. The mother of all games... Nothing gets bigger than that. India has had the best of Pakistan in World Cup matches but if we look at overall statistics Pakistan still have better numbers than India. Yesterday, is going to be electric! A very rare chance for US based Indo-Pak cricket fans to witness the greatest rivalry. As always, in the World Cups India are favourites and Pakistan could well be out of the tournament if they lose to India and USA wins their game against Ireland and don't lose to India by a big margin.

Bangladesh will have improved from their recent t20 tournament. They had some decent overseas players in that tournament which will have helped them improve from that experience.

My Picks are Ireland Sri Lanka New Zealand South Africa England

Here's my 319 sats. A bargain for this fun.
reply
Thanks...
What about making it from 3 matches to 5 or 7 matches for eliminations?
reply
I think that's fine, but it's a pretty modest ante (319 sats) as it stands, and it builds the pot.
reply
I'm in favour of making it 5 or 7.
reply
Now. I'm not. 😜
Because it's already nearly 7 with the rebuy. The amount with what one can rebuy is very modest as well. It is always 10% of the total prize pool and currently it's only 319 sats.
