So about 24 hours since that epic low scoring thriller between India and Pakistan, we are back at Nassau County Cricket Stadium for the clash between South Africa and Bangladesh.

Both these sides are unbeaten so far in the competition, having pulled through Sri Lanka who many might consider as the only real other challenger for the Super Eights. South Africa have performed superbly with the ball, restricting their opponents to under 110 on both occasions, but they had to get through a nervy start to triumph over their bogey team Netherlands in the last game.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, didn't have the greatest of build-ups to this World Cup, losing a game to Zimbabwe and a series to United States, but they got through a tricky chase to one up their new rivals Sri Lanka in their first WC game. They'll look to build on that momentum with another solid performance today.

South Africa have won the toss and have opted to bat

Pitch Report -

Playing on the same surface as yesterday and it hasn't fully settled down yet. It will be better for the bowlers, they need to bowl a bit back of length, a little bit shorter than Test match length and force the batters to hit square of the wicket. Bowling those hard lengths and having people hit square towards the longer boundaries will be difficult.

I wonder if choosing to bat first is due to the condition of the pitch and they think it will play really randomly after 20 overs.

What are the rules for bowlers?

Can a bowler only bowl a certain number of overs?

In 50 overs cricket, A maximum a bowler can bowl is 10 overs, no limit on minimum though. So, 5 x 10 = 50

In T20's a maximum bowler can bowl is 4 overs, no limit on minimum. 4 x 5 = 20

In test cricket though, there is no limit, I have seen bowlers bowl over 60,70 overs per innings, mainly spinners though.

In ODI and T20 an over is 6 (legal) deliveries not 5.

You referenced 50-over games and T20 and I was correcting you - they have always been 6-ball overs.

In other forms the number of balls per over has been variously 4, 5, 6 or 8 over the years.

And all forms of cricket? The Hundred? It’s overseen by the ECB who amended Law 17 (among many) to 5-ball overs.

lol I know the FACTS you're referring to. We're talking about INTERNATIONAL cricket, not leagues. The Hundred is a league, not an International game. And I also know Initially an ODI was of 60 overs of 8 balls. It used to be 4, 8 and currently 6 balls. Never heard of 5 though.

And the initial comment where you were according to you correcting me, I was mentioning bowlers. 5 was supposed to be bowlers and 10 & 4 were supposed to be overs. You jumped the gun lol. Relax and read again. And obviously when I said in all forms of cricket I meant the current era where we're watching it. I'm sure we weren't even born in the 60 overs and 8 balls per over era so no point discussing it and confusing everyone else. Cheers!

Depends on the conditions, and Captain, Management game plan. If it's a cloudy weather, green lush grass on pitch then captains prefer to win toss and bowl first to take advantage of the fresh pitch and early swing. Pitches in England are most likely to fit this criteria.

If it's dry pitch with patches, and might spin later then teams prefer to win toss, put runs on the board and defend with good quality spinners. Pitches in India and Sri Lanka most likely to fit this criteria.

Have you not learned anything yet? These pitches are not matured for modern T20 cricket yet.. Even pitches in West Indies are hard to score big runs.

I would say 170 is equivalent of 200 on these pitches. 150 = 170 and 130 - 150.
