As some of y’all may know last week my family lost our Golden Retriever baby. Mardi was my brothers dog @TheSlopsMcFlops but like me once we went off to college and then into the workforce we lived in small apartments when our dogs were used to big yards. It is safe to say the loss hit our family hard.
Last weekend though luckily I was previously scheduled to dog sit. The owner of one the dogs, Benson, who I watched for 13 days as his parents traveled knew how sad I was and actually dropped him off the night before for cuddles. This is how that played out.
It was safe to say he spoiled me with kisses and cuddles. Not to be outdone though I got to watch my OG pup Wampa Friday through Sunday and he did not disappoint! Wampa though is near impossible to get a photo of him not moving but here is the one good one I got!

Dogs are wonderful companions when someone is not well or sad.
My wife had a major surgery three weeks ago and the first week after our dog would not move from beside the bed other than to eat or go for a walk.
Glad you had some friends to keep you company while you were feeling blue.

I am so sorry to hear about your wife I hope she is doing much better! Mardi was more of my brothers dog while Rusty who I had made into a diamond was more of mine and while Rusty tended to be the one who stuck with me like your dog has with your wife whenever Rusty needed to eat or do something Mardi would come in and spell him! Just goes to show how crazy smart dogs are!

Yes, she is doing better, thanks for the well wishes.
Our pup has brought so much joy and companionship to the family. She is great with the kids too. My son (13) just started taking her for walks on his own, which was a big help the first couple weeks of my wife's recovery and she wasn't that mobile. The dog has been so good walking with my son. I was wondering how she would take to it since she was only used to my wife or myself walking her but she has been great for him.

I'm sorry for your loss... 😢
They stay loyal and get to be our best friend for so long that we take their time with us for granted.
I hope you will be alright and cherish the good times you guys had. ♥️

He drove me crazy for years but really since I moved to DC I got much closer to him esp. after my dog passed. He might have had some amazing selective hearing and since he always would get in the pool smelled.... moldy... I will miss that greatly about him but I know I will never forget it either!

So sorry to hear, this is the hardest part of having a dog :'(

It really does suck and at least I go through the internal battle of do I want another one or not because I will be heart broken again... I feel like my dogs that have passed though have already picked out the next dog for my family and I and when we meet it we will know!

Sorry for your loss. Nothing like some friends to cheer you up with some love, though. My favorite is the photo where the brown guy is trying to sit on your head.

Thank you! That is Benson and he is a 10-month-old puppy who has some crack head energy! His parents have been so sweet they have told me that if I ever need a pick me up to text them and they will either bring him over or I can swing by to get some puppy love!
