I get all that, but if they knew he was going to implode on national television, there wouldn't have been genuine panic. They would already have their ducks in a row.
I think many of them honestly believed he could bluff his way through this campaign.
I also think that debate was a bit of a hit job by the faction that knew what was up.

I agree it was a hit job. I'm not sure there is genuine panic. I believe very little of what the media claims right now. Maybe the only question is whether they now can convince Joe to step aside.

I didn't believe CNN's claims of panic, but Breaking Points is more credible. Now, that panic could also be confined to some lower ranks of the party who aren't in the loop.
It's hard to say what's really going on, which is what makes it so interesting.
