@ek @k00b is there a manual push for when a territory gets paid for by invoice? Or does the SN system recognise it's been paid and then remove the warnings and countdowns. As I paid mine a couple hours ago but I've still got the archive warnings and a countdown.

I started writing something about the fissure in white America's identity politics and I wonder if there is a "lost demographic" caused by the cultural discontinuity between Carter and Clinton due to the Clintons' sex scandal.

I recently came to the idea of thymos, which, from my understanding, Francis Fukuyama uses to mean a sense of dignity and self-worth possessed by the individual. When this thymos possessed by the individual is not recognized by authorities and those in power, it causes indignation and rage.

I wonder if there is a sizable population that was morally betrayed then and the aftertaste (and lack of accountability) alienates and bewilders a huge section of the population now.

I think people like RFK and J.D. Vance speak to this demographic from an identity politics perspective...I just wonder how it shakes out in terms of this demographic's ideologies getting persuaded simply by having someone representing them.

(I belong to this demographic. In an ideal world, I'd be voting for Tulsi, but alas that ship sailed.)

Maybe this is a huge "duh" realization, but I think it's important enough to comment about somewhere on this website today. I wrote a little post but I think I'd rather give it more time to marinade...

In about an hour I will take the FCC Amateur Radio Technician test in a first step towards learning the radio communication arts. I work as a yacht electrician, so many of the subject matter is already familiar to me. I've studied pretty hard the last two weeks, and taken five practice exams, getting at most 3 questions wrong. Along with the General and Extra licenses, which require renewal every ten years, I want to get FCC commercial licenses which will grant me the regulatory privilege of working on radio systems, not just on yachts, but I plan to continue focusing on marine vessels.

It's entirely possible for that to happen. You get on the leaderboard by creating or zapping "top" content.

My understanding is that "top" is defined by being in the top third of posts or comments.

If the content you created or zapped gets surpassed by other content, then it no longer qualifies as "top" and you no longer get rewards for it.

Corporations massively produce products and they pay for the celebrities & models & influencers and keep telling ppl what they need and where to buy from; then, ppl work harder to buy these things, even those that they don't really need.

These corporations control the news & media too and decide whatever is the current thing; Guess what? They happen to fund the gov too, ofc Gov makes things easier for these corporations with all the rules and laws, on top of charging tax on EVERYTHING.

So these corporations can keep inventing new problems and sell new solutions, then the already busy with work people actually listen and keep working harder to buy things with their time/life while being entertained by TV shows, news, social media or wars.

Then you have businesses claiming to help you to be free ( hints: they are actually friends with the ones who are making ppl miserable ), and NO, they are just making money out of you and selling you the safety blanket / the illusions, because real Freedom can't be bought, but has to be earned.

I have always maintained that I will be this chill, cool parent when my children enter primary school. Sensei won’t freak out about his son’s academic prowess. More experienced parents keep pooh-poohing my conviction and give me a smug look that suggests “Just you wait and see!”

Now I have an anecdote to back up my Zen-ness. So, for the first time ever, I logged on to their preschool’s educational app. I noted that my son was learning the /fr/ sound as they were reading “Frank and the Fruit” in class. I proceeded to make the sounds for them and got him to blend /f/ and /r/ together.

“How do you make the /o/ sound?” he asked. I complied by making it for him.

“How do you make the /g/ sound?” he asked again. I dutifully complied.

“f…r…o…g…frog!” he spelt the word. And here I was, thinking that he wanted to know the sounds of random letters! I didn’t even know that he knows how to spell “frog”! He can 举一反三 (extend his thinking).

It’s okay if my boy doesn’t top his class or even get stellar results in school. He is good enough on his own.

What was really missing about the internet was payment protocol, and Bitcoin is already here.

Then why not simply go back to information sharing and value exchange: good info being rewarded with sats, as simple as this, then everything else pretty much can be ignored, and go back to living your life - you would be amazed how good information can make your life easier.

I guess simple stuff don't sell as much as overly complicated stuff. When people ask "how do you get good skin?", they are expecting you to say which product they should buy, not that they need to drink water properly and get good quality sleep. The simple works, but people expect a "secret" sauce.
