We had been doing a good job keeping @k00b off the leaderboards, but for the second day in a row he's taking all of the Top Stacker spots. For posterity's sake, don't let him win a fourth July 10th in a row.

  1. Begin learning the protocols quite well. I recommend Chaincode ... If you don't like classes/accountability/mentorship, you can self-teach using their materials: https://chaincode.gitbook.io/seminars/.

Kind of regretting settling in Austin ๐Ÿ˜‚. South America will soon be the place to be.

I like how you start the memory lane off with a commentary of sorts xP
I really miss @birdeye21. Has your wedding happened yet, mate?
reply
Hey @k00b. I know your 2021 comment was said in jest but 3 years later how are you feeling about settling in Austin. If you could do it over would your make the same choice?
reply
@Undisciplined asked in that thread yesterday.
I would make the same choice. Thereโ€™s not a better place for me to be then/now, but I miss Californiaโ€™s nature and when/as things go to shit being in a big city isnโ€™t where you want to be. I donโ€™t like being surrounded by suffering and corruption.
reply
I haven't been to Austin. I am going to check it out next time I am in Texas.
I fully endorse being out of the city. My wife was pro the idea way before I was but once I came around on the idea and we made the move I realized how foolish I was holding a candle for city living all those years. Concern over what big cities will devolve into was part of what convinced me.
reply
As we consider moving, Texas often comes up, but it seems so flat and brown.
Since you also come from a naturally beautiful place, how much do you notice the lack of natural beauty?
reply
Texas has its own kind of beauty but itโ€™s harder to appreciate and less grand, but because you have to strain to see it, paradoxically you might end up noticing nature more. If you like bugs and birds and big flowers, it has way more of those afaict. The trees are shorter and fewer though, and there are fewer hills/mountains, but itโ€™s otherwise greener than where I was in California.
My favorite natural thing about Texas is the storms. I love thunder and rain and we got neither for a decade in California.
reply
Texas storms are pretty wild. Got to see a couple while visiting for a few months two years ago.
reply
We can live pretty much anywhere and I think I want to place a high premium on natural beauty. I have lived in the Southwest, so I know what you're talking about with the spectacular storms.
reply
I think mid-northern states like Wyoming are probably the best combo of tread free govs and natural beauty if you can stand the cold and want to stay in the US. Alternatively if you can split your time between north/south during the year thatโ€™d probably give you year round freedom and weather/beauty.
reply
I'm from a very cold and snowy place. My preference is to not live that way. If I ever get rich enough, maybe I'll do the seasonal migration thing.
reply
I like four season living. Each season has its own charm.
Great article from 2023 today!
Thanks man!

Meme Monday is one of my. Favourites and looking here as the top comment, I couldn't help myself asking it to @sn or everyone else โ€” why was it snapped abruptly?
reply
My guess is that it's one of the things @kr did.
reply
Ahh, okay! He isn't there anymore so is the reason. Let me see if I can take the responsibility!
