The risk/reward is way to high to fake this. If the ruse was discovered he risks losing everything, just to gain higher polling numbers than he already has? That doesn't make any sense. He's already the front runner against the worst candidate in history.
What is the risk tho?
I'd argue the risk is literally zero.
If someone "exposes" it, he'll just say they are lying to get attention. Or that the exposing was a ploy by democrats.
