Best to focus on nostr. These guys lost the plot. I emailed them months ago trying to convince them crypto was the wrong path and to focus on bitcoin/lightning, pointed out successful projects like SN, fountain, gaming apps, nostr. They were quite polite in their response thanking me for my opinion though.

(i) Innumerable media applications just like Odysee, X, Reddit, Zerohedge, Drudge Report, etc. powered by the same Arweave technology stack which makes them privacy focussed, customizable, and censorship resistant.
Yeah, I totally buy that X and Reddit are pulling up stakes to move to their new environment. I could see ZH or Drudge essentially syndicating content to them, but that's where it ends.
As others have said, I'd rather see a Nostr-centric approach.

I want to ask.
Can we use Odysee as a proper alternative of YouTube? Can we earn by uploading new videos there?

On one hand, I like the direction of their changes. On the other, something built on nostr that has bitcoin payments is probably going to win out.

Thanks! I've just explored the platform. It looks cool!

I think they are finding more money in the path of "crypto" and "blockchain". I don't blame people for finding a pathway for a successful businesses, but they should have at least explored the possibility.

The future of decentralized video should not be gatekept on Bitcoin
reply
Chances are if it’s not on bitcoin or nostr it is a decentralization larp.

I disagree, is Matrix decentralization larp?
reply
Don’t know enough to comment but I have seen enough “crypto”, “blockchain”, “web 3” projects that are most certainly larping as being decentralized to be comfortable with my “chances are” statement. I didn’t say most certainly are. I said chances are.

Note, Arweave offers '200 years or as long as the endowment allows' for their funding model for storage. Their endowment is AR tokens, which they print themselves, from nothing. Payment for storage goes back into their endowment.
The tokens are a one time payment for storage, so users are less likely to need them over time.
Every time I read about Arweave I cannot understand how it can work sustainably, and a 200 year storage project -- while ambitious -- cannot live on shittokens alone.
