So, I'm a professional translator. I would love to share my skills here. What kind of content would you like me to translate for you? Classic literature from other languages into English, Open Source software (including games), Transcriptions from non-english videos (in english, of course)...
If you choose this last option, please let me know in the comments what kind of video would you like to see. By the way, let me know in the comments what you would like to see whatever option you choose.
If you need more content: I'm Brazilian and I also can understand Spanish. I can bring content from my country or from any Latin America place. Also some African countries that speak Portuguese, like Angola and Mozambique.
So, you tell me.

I'd love to hear about what's really going on in Brazil without it having to trickle and filter through english media. @Coinsreporter has been doing this from India and while I can't speak for all stackers, I love it.

@Coinsreporter has been very instrumental in bringing people to SN. He does regular follow ups with me as well. He taught me about how SN works on day 1 and it's really amazing.
I was planning to start a job for about 100$ a month but now I think if I can stack bitcoin like this I don't need a job! Thanks everyone here. Thanks @k00b for the platform.

Ahh! So much praise! I've told about SN to so many but only a few joined and a fewer have started sharing here. It's credit to you, instead of me! Thanks to you for everything you've been upto here.
reply
Thanks! I do it because I believe that it's the purpose of SN to talk about truth. All MSMs are crooked and they are there only to sell propoganda that is state sponsored. @TomK is also doing the same. I came up with all of my unfiltered stuff after reading his articles here.

This. I'd love to see direct translations of news articles and opinion pieces from other countries, especially on topics related to bitcoin, economics, and current events.

I like the content that is mostly easy to understand and about Bitcoin generally. Yes, @Coinsreporter has been doing an awesome job by bringing truth about our country. He's surely been an inspiration for us. Without him we wouldn't ever make it here. SN is the greatest platform for upholding truth!

Not an easy task by any means, but I would love to see deep dives (translation + context) on Brazilian music (all genres).
Besides that, transcriptions from non-english videos would be really appreciated too.
P.S. também sou brasileira. ;)

That's a good idea.
Personally, I don't feel like to be in this kind of political stuff. I rather talk about the cultural aspects. Although it seems like people here are not much interested.

Business brochures, catalogs. Maybe we can discuss details. Please leave contact on my website contact page.
Thank you, Richard

professional translator? like you speak several languages?
reply
Professional means I do it as job, not as a hobby. I speak Portuguese, English and a bit of Spanish. Learning French now. But you don't need several languages to be a professional translator. Just two :)

Unrelated to your query, but I'm very curious to hear first hand experience about how the AI boom has affected your job as a translator. Is it a threat? Are you embracing it? Is it making you more productive? Do you feel like you can still do a better job at it as a LLM? For how long?
reply
I like to embrace technology. I often use Machine Translations, then just correct the mistakes. This actually has a name in the industry: MTPE (Machine translation post-editing).
I tried ChatGPT translations once to help me with some poems. It was good but it takes me a bit of prompts and creativity to pick the best translations anyway.
I do not believe AI or any innovation should be feared. I see it as a tool to improve my work.
I shall say though, many translators would disagree. Many translators point out the failures of some Machine Translations as an excuse to not use it. It always sounds like fear, childish and poor self propaganda to me.

What's more, LLMs are here to stay. There is no other choice than to embrace it, whether one likes it or not.
