I'm putting together a series of posts, and in the last one #615256 make me think about literacy rates and how this minor detail could have affected our current life if higher at the beginning of the 19th century. We had the printing press since the 15th century, newspapers since the 18th century... but how many were lucky enough or had the time and access able to learn?
I found a few interactive charts I though may be worth to share. Can you find a better one? is the place where you live over or under the world average?

Footnotes

Interesting chart! I wish more countries were represented though.
I confess that I’m a snob. I didn’t think my country, Singapore, would be ranked lower than Costa Rica n Chile.
Didn’t think that Russia would get close to 💯 literacy rate!

The accuracy of these data is not to be taken 100% precise, just a reference.
Anyway, if you go to the site you are able to select more/fewer countries or regions and compare different charts.
