Yeah and I don’t know exactly what the calculus was here.
I think there’s a lot of skepticism about Trump’s appointments, because they were so bad in his first term.
Vance might be a signal that he learned something from that and won’t pick a bunch of establishment hacks this time.
I thought he would have picked his kids. Thinking of succession and all.

That’s always struck me as silly. Americans hate that sort of thing. It would make no sense electorally.
reply
Everyone knows this is his last term. He will eventually have to pass the torch. And I dont really see him passing the torch to anyone other than his family.
reply
Populist movements don’t usually have sustained success. The GOP will continue on like normal after Trump is gone.
reply
Of course, but I think Trump will try to take advantage of the fact. I wouldnt put it past him.
reply
Of course he'll try to leverage it. His kids may not be interested. If they were, I'd expect them to have run for senate or governor by now.
reply
I wouldnt put it past them. Just a matter of time.
reply
Vance committed to behaving opposite of the way Mike Pence did.
reply
In what way? Being loyal to Trump?
reply
You know, that day at the Capitol.
reply
You know, I havent heard much of Pence since he got out of office. What is he doing?
reply
He tried to run for president.
reply
What? Really?
reply
Primaries, but he never contended. Lasted about as long as a drop of water on a hot skillet.
