You cannot have long term peace with Russia without fighting back hard. That's their mentality, no difference between Putin and gopniks on the streets. If you kick them in the face, only then they start to respect you.
Problem with the Westerners understanding Russians is that they haven't grown up on the streets with regular fights with them.
do we really need to have this debate again? how many wars of aggression have NATO states, above all the UK and the USA, carried out since the end of the Second World War? please answer this first, then look at the historical background since the Maidan coup, the rearmament of the Ukrainian army into a NATO army and then think about it again, please. The problem here is that a lot of You guys do not see the geopilitical /ressource driven background of this. You do not understand how the military complex is working.

Don't spread false info that Maidan was a coup. This is what Russia wants you to believe, but it's completely false:
- Yanukovych left a country and abandoned his duties
- Verkhovna Rada voted to remove him from his office - all within Ukraine constitution
- Yanukovych Party of Regions also voted in favour of his removal

apparently we need to rehash the same debate where anyone supporting a ceasefire has fallen for Russian propaganda

Russia has always used ceasefires just to regroup and attack again later. Like Ukraine 2014 and 2022.
reply
Less than Russia. They even do wars inside their country (Chechenia 1994 and 1999). And remember - Warsaw pact was the only military alliance in history where you invade member state (Czechoslovakia 1968). How can you compare that to NATO?
Maidan coup? How many Ukrainians you personally know? I don't know single one who would say it was a bad thing, and that it wasn't revolution (of course, revolutions are always lead by someone, but there should be critical mass in lower class for that to happen).
reply
Revolution or Coup? you are splitting hairs semantically
reply
It was revolution. Coup is when few people take over power, not when masses are involved.
For example, Bolshevik October Revolution of 1917 was coup, not revolution, as it involved only few hundred soldiers actually, rest was propaganda written later.
reply
What about February Revolution? was that revolution or coup?
reply
That was revolution.
