I agree, but that's a different issue. At time of admission, schools have a very good idea of a student's odds of completing a degree. They wildly mislead low probability students about those odds and then encourage them to take on as much financial aid as possible.
I remember starting my major with 93 students, was down to 29 by the time we graduated.

Well, maybe for my major. I dont know how many of them ended up dropping out. I know some transferred majors.
It’s been a while since I checked these numbers, but only a little over 1/3 of students graduate.
I didnt think it was that low. Imagine the 2/3 that are saddled with debt and no degree.

During my era, more students should have been encouraged to go to trade schools instead of academic.
Some majors like womans studies, psychology, and communications.... Pretty worthless majors.
