@DarthCoin where should i start learning about the fundamentals of networks, if i want to become Uncle Jim later? i started with Saylor academy a while ago, but it was not very fun...

what do you mean by this? Is quite a general term.

how computers connect, relays, IP's, DNS, etc. something easily digestible for newbie. u were working in IT so it's obviously very basic for u.
as u said, people jump straight into running routing nodes without having any idea how internet works, so i want to avoid that mistake.

Yes, I have an IT background with 20 years of experience in networking and servers. But for running a LN node you need at least a basic knowledge about how these things work, you don't have to take a degree of science in networking.
Just learn, plenty of tutorials on internet about this stuff.

Working in IT is often a thankless job. You get very little attention when things work which is most of the time. In the 0.1% of the time they don't you get angry ungrateful people.
Be kind to your IT people.
