Well, it was a good day for unexpected surprises (women's fencing, men's rowing), as well as areas the US has done well in (women's gymnastics, swimming). Sometimes it's a matter of what events take place when.
I've never understood why the only medal table options are gold or total medals. I'd love to see a combined version where gold is worth, say, five points, silver three, bronze 1. Still gives weight to gold, but also gives props to countries that score multiple medals in events.
Our pool is definitely that way. For a correct gold prediction, you get 3 points, for silver 2 and for bronze 1 point. So, we should be happy that at least we're doing it right way.
