Good to see you use Phoenix these days. Do you feel any difference compared to using custodial wallets?

I always have done :)
I start out beginners on things like Blink or Wallet of Satoshi and personally, i am forced to use custodial wallets in really bad internet areas.
i prefer self-custodial ln wallets. I used to use blue wallet religiously. Since that failed i've been a phoenix maxi although i use bitkit sometimes too.
The difference is the fees (which DO sting after a while) and the connectivity. Eg, sometimes i'll try to use Phoenix in Senegal or Peru, but the connection is so bad i have to use WoS.

Some questions for you:
- what was the most used wallet BTC-LN app in Lugano by merchants?
- what was the most used wallet BTC-LN app in Lugano by customers?
- did all those merchants are holding their received sats and/or creating a Bitcoin circular economy? Or they are just selling them for more fiat (aka giving them to Blackrock, Saylor and govs) ?

I can reply you 1 and 3 after my trip to Lugano a while ago.
All merchants use the same payment terminals, provided by plan B, that are filled with different shitcoin functions and have the lightning payment in a submenu.
Unfortunately it is even worse than that. The payment terminals automatically convert the received bitcoin to fiat CHF, which is booked some days later to the merchant's bank account.

Yes and no! They can HODL if they choose to. I couldn't find any that did though :/
- Bitfinex PoS
- Some use the Luga app which is actually quite good because of the cashback benefits. It's only available to residents. But probably Wallet of Satoshi as that one is most used by the world.
- That's quite loaded 🤣 They can HODL but they're not gonna hodl something they don't understand. They might start accepting bitcoin; learn about it then switch to HOLD mode. Equally, they might just forever convert to fiat. The choice is there and the reliability + education is fortunately on hand.

Why the fucking Tether ?

ahah i tried to make this about bitcoin but yes you can also pay in tEthEr in these places.
You can see the PoS terminals are made with Bitfinex! Tether and Bitfinex are businesses of course so they can do what they want, but fortunately bitcoin is accepted at all of these places and some HODL.

I was proud of my wife tonight. She's all about NGU and not very technical.
Yet she said, "Trump cheering for Bitcoin, that's not really what Bitcoin is about, right?"
She also less and less talks about "cashing out".
People learn. Keep being toxic.
