I hate charts like this so we just going to ignore the firearm deaths caused by Russia and Ukraine?

Charts like this perpetuate this narrative that blacks are violent and whites are not which isn’t true in the least bit. All races commit violence and commit murders.

reply

What about sex? Would you say men and women commit acts of physical violence at equal rates?

reply

Of course not

But some people will deny gender so it’s easier to deny reality

Black women have the highest rates of incarceration and it’s not because juries are racist

reply

Yeah probably by per capita. But blacks only take up like 13% of the USA population. In sheer numbers I almost certain more white women are in prison than black.

reply

Equal? Nah my point is not about what’s equal and what’s not. Gun violence is an issue that plagues black communities for decades. What I push back on is that other races are not as violent when we have countless examples of whites, Asians, Latinos doing really violent stuff like the drug cartels in Mexico.

reply

Well, at least you aren’t in denial about male/female differences. Consider yourself blessed to be as distant as you are from actual violence.

reply

Of course not! I know the difference between women and men and men are way more aggressive by nature.

Warning: disturbing video

reply

Very disturbing. He’s going to jail like he should. Not sure what context this has on our discussion but okay

reply

You’re being deliberately naive

reply

Nah I truly don’t understand what you are showing me. Am i supposed to think blacks are violent because you show a video of a black teen beating up a white teacher? What point are you trying to make. All I said was charts like the one you posted are fodder to say blacks are violent and other races aren’t and I just said it’s not true. Then you post a random video of violence like it’s supposed to prove something

reply

Yes!

You don’t see this level of violence with other races

The chart says more violent

Emphasis on more

You are claiming everyone is equal which is empirically wrong

reply

That’s false. Ukraine and Russia are at war. We don’t see the gruesome violence that’s going on there.

Plus whites do violent things all the time must I enter mass shootings of innocent school children into this dialogue? Don’t see blacks doing that.

The dude who allegedly shot at Trump was white.

reply

1994 civil war in Rwanda

Maybe we shouldn't count that since it was machetes not firearms

There is no narrative to perpetuate

reply

Fox News would like a word with you

reply

Already resorting to ad hominem attacks

Your clip is empty

reply

Charts don't create narratives, people create narratives

edit: trolling me or the chart won't magically change the reality of race and homicides.

I hate how the 100 meter sprint perpetuates the narrative that blacks are faster than whites.

reply

Well charts are created by people and people don’t have 100% of the data/information to make proper analyses.

As far as the 100 meter sprint comment. Well we have the Olympics to determine the best athletes plus performance you can make general stereotypes when it comes to athletics. Either you do the task or your don’t. Sure you can try to link race to performance output but that undermines the athlete’s achievement like the white woman who smoked the black women in the 800m

Killing and violence which is a viewed as negative in most societies is different.

reply

800 meter is not a sprint

reply

It’s a race

reply

so is a marathon which is not a sprint

It'd be really interesting to see the Czech Republic, and Finland's firearm homicide rates also separated out by race. Both countries are very white, even in the main cities.

reply

Plus Austria 🇦🇹 France 🇫🇷 and Canada 🇨🇦

These countries have lots of immigrants especially in the cities

reply

Yes, those countries may in fact have white gun violence levels significantly less than the US, assuming minorities are responsible for as high a proportion of gun violence as in the US. Czech Republic and Finland are interesting because their white gun violence level may very well be higher than the US.

reply

Crime stats are asymmetric. Less than one percent of the population is responsible for violent crime

Finland does seem high relative to the other countries including US white

From perplexity:

Based on the search results, the most common ethnic minorities in the Czech Republic are:

  1. Moravians: They make up about 4.9% of the population (around 522,474 people)[2]. Moravians are considered a subgroup of Czechs but speak a distinct Moravian dialect[4].
  2. Slovaks: They comprise approximately 1.4% of the population (about 149,140 people)[2]. Slovaks are closely related to Czechs but speak a distinct language[4].
  3. Ukrainians: Less than 1% of the population (around 53,603 people)[2]. The 2021 census shows Ukrainians making up 1.1% of declared ethnicities[3].
  4. Poles: Less than 1% of the population (about 39,269 people)[2].
  5. Vietnamese: Less than 1% of the population (around 29,825 people)[2]. The 2021 census indicates Vietnamese make up 0.4% of declared ethnicities[3].

Other notable minorities include Germans, Russians, and Roma (Romani) people, though their exact numbers are smaller[1][2]. It's worth noting that a significant portion of the population (26% in the 2011 census) did not declare their ethnicity[2].

Finland is a relatively ethnically homogeneous country, with the vast majority of the population being ethnic Finns. Here are the key points about Finland's racial and ethnic demographics:

Ethnic CompositionEthnic Composition

  • Approximately 90-93% of the population has a Finnish ethnic background[1][2][5].
  • The largest minority groups include:
    • Swedish-speaking Finns: 5-6% of the population
    • Russians: 1.4-1.7%
    • Estonians
    • Roma (Romani)
    • Sami (indigenous people of northern Finland)

Language as a Proxy for EthnicityLanguage as a Proxy for Ethnicity

Finland does not officially collect statistics on ethnicity, so language is often used as a proxy[4]:

  • Finnish speakers: 85.9-87.6%
  • Swedish speakers: 5.1-5.2%
  • Russian speakers: 1.4-1.7%
  • Other languages: 5.8-7.2%

Immigration and DiversityImmigration and Diversity

  • The immigrant population has been growing in recent years, but remains relatively small compared to other European countries[4].
  • As of 2017, about 7% of Finland's population had a "foreign background" (both parents born abroad)[4].
  • The largest immigrant groups come from the former Soviet Union, Estonia, Iraq, Somalia, and former Yugoslavia[4].

While Finland remains predominantly ethnically Finnish, increasing immigration is slowly diversifying the country's demographic makeup, particularly in urban areas like Helsinki[1][4].
