NFL Survivor 2024
Wanted to elicit some feedback regarding a couple ideas I had relating to this year's NFL Survivor Pool.
Last year we had a 10k sat buy in and a 10k sat rebuy. First piece of feedback I want to get is what do stackers think about doing 20k/20k this year?
My second idea is running a second pool open to everyone with no buy in, just a zap the pot. Like a mini survivor pool. I think there are some folks who might like to participate but maybe don't know much about NFL (thinking about our friends from India) and might be put off by the 20k sats buy in. Obviously those participating in the main pool would be able to participate in this one as well.
Thoughts?
Sats for all, GR
I'm in with your 2nd idea. As you know I and my tribe would be interested to participate in any pool but of course we don't know much about NFL. So, it may be better to give everyone an easy opportunity where there's nothing to lose. It can be that some of us may participate in buy in NFL pool next time after we have learnt.
reply
Trust me when I say being involved in fantasy you'll learn really fast. Id never watched a snap of football before I got asked to step into fantasy in a home league. And now... I know what Kyler Murrays local dog rescue fed it's miniature schnauzer for lunch šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ just incase it impacts his play šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ you'll learn the game really rapidly with an investment in fantasy.
reply
Haha what did the schnauzer eat?
reply
Ok, what do you think about the idea of no buy in but you have to pay to rebuy like you did in the cricket pool?
reply
Rebuy should be there upto som extent. Like we can allow rebuys till the group stages or league games finish. Also, the rebuy amount should increase with the tournament's progress
reply
There are no group stages. It is just one season of 18 weeks. But I get your point.
reply
Ohh! I just know nothing about the structure of NFL. I know a little about Football but I've come to know that American Football is too different from Football!
reply
@siggy47 would like your thoughts on this since you were the originator of the SN Survivor pool idea.
reply
I just got out of the dentist and I'm collecting my thoughts. I like the idea of 2 pools, one without a buy in. Regarding the amount, we should get consensus. It's okay with me, but some may see 20/20 as too high.
reply
That's kind of why I like a second pool. @Undisciplined is against it. But if we have say 10 hardcore NFL fans that are willing to pony up 20k sats. I am sure we can get that many. Then everyone else can have fun zapping the pot in the mini.
reply
I know the 3 of us are in. The kiddo said he is in if I pony up his 20k sats. Haha. I am sure pub will be in. That's already 5.
reply
we should do both pools: 10k/20k and free
the free pool will attract more people and be more fun
reply
it should be 10k/20k
reply
Iā€™m going to win is my only thought
reply
I'm good with 20k and 20k. It was a huge blast last year and I'm looking forward to doing it again
reply
I appreciate your second option as I have no idea about NFL. Happy to be in though I need to know a bit the rules of the game, teams and so on
reply
there are survivor pool sites
it's 60 percent luck
less football knowledge helps
reply
Ok. Just checked how it works. Happy to be in, though with the second option that @grayruby mentions as I am a first timer regarding the NFL.
reply
I will help all the Europeans

Thanks.

I am in on both of your ideas.
Joined last years pool and really enjoyed it!

Yes I recall. Hope you will join again this year.

My vote is for 10k Sat buy in/reBuy
reply
Would you still participate if it was 20k/20k?

Yes, but my heirs will mad with you for making me lose so many Sats
reply
Haha. They will forgive you.

I am in but don't have knowledge about it. So this time I will go with second idea.
reply
Thanks for the feedback.

I don't like there being two pools. How about a compromise with no buy-in, but 20k rebuy?
reply
Why no two pools?
reply
I'm not sure, exactly: It feels cluttered; I like everyone being in the same contest; sympathetic aversion to the accounting you'll have to do.
I also really like the free entry with expensive rebuy structure.
reply
I like it too but the zap the pots don't generate a big prize like the buy in did so no one is going to rebuy 20k sats if the pot is 50k sats.
reply
Good point, but I think you know that I will pay the rebuy (and also that I'll need to).
Here's a wild idea: you could make our initial buy-ins the tie-breaker. I have no idea what that'll result in, but I bet it'll generate a pretty large initial pot.
reply
So you can buy in what you want but if we go to tiebreaker and you put in 2k sats and I put 10k sats I win?
reply
reply
Only problem with that is there is no way of knowing who zapped and how much so I have to take people's word for it. If the buy in post is showing 50k sats someone could say they put in 10k sats but really only put in 1k and even though I might not believe them, I can't really verify it.
I would need to do by comment 1x1. I @ someone and they zap the comment their buy in.
2 pools: separate and unequal
reply
10K initial buy in 20K second buy in
reply
Iā€™m in!
reply
Thanks for thinking about us. You are absolutely right I don't have any knowledge about NFL. I will in with second option. Slowly slowly, when we learn, we will start participating in the main pools in future.
reply
I would prefer a 'no buy in' as well. But I'd say it's not because I can't buy in but I think this way many Stackers would engage with such pools.
