Both "hot" and "top" feeds are very useful, yet having them in separate windows leads me (personally, hope others may confirm) to just end up choosing the "hot" feed to have a quick glance at SN, so much that I tend to literally forget the "top" feed exists.
So, why not to merge them into a two-column single-page feed? That arrangement can allow for more posts to be shown on the "hot" feed (increasing discoverability), instead of having information that repeats on both feeds: any post that's already on the left "top" column will not be shown on the left "hot" column, thus showing information only once, allowing to pack much more, in the same space, while being more easy to read. Sounds like a win-win to me. What do you think?
There would be then only two navigation windows: "hot / top" and "recent / random", making navigation a breeze and increasing authors exposure.
