The increasingly inaccurately named weekly crossword puzzle is up! Since @grayruby won last "week's" (posted this Monday) puzzle, the theme this week is sports!

week 5 puzzle

week 5 puzzle

The info below is only necessary for the competitive type who wants to play for the bounty.

This week's bounty involves a second puzzle similar to week 1, but with a twist! There are answers that are on the BIP-39 word list. There's a 12-word wallet in which one of these words swept the first quarter of the game and other word swept the rest. The first person to comment with the xpub for this wallet gets the bounty.

BUT, let's make it a little more interesting!

Here is an address for said wallet.
bc1qswcrkuu5mfs2vg9y52xc2543zmnqmz3j9jwnyn
As of this posting, the wallet is empty. However, stackers might start sending actual on-chain bitcoin to this address (full disclosure, I won't). Once you've posted the xpub, I doubt anyone will send any more rewards to the address since the hunt is essentially over. Before you've claimed the bounty, the people with access will be whoever has solved the crossword (kinda hard this week) and figured out the (easy) riddle...and me. So you still might not be able to withdrawal the bitcoin because others and myself might take it. However, the bounty is a guaranteed amount of sats.
Whatever you do, have fun. It's just a puzzle. There probably won't ever be more money in here than what you could buy a cup of coffee with.
PS (American) football fans, enjoy this cruel dig on Taylor Swift I found on nostrminusnostr sports yesterday. Is she really that unwelcome in the NFL?

Thanks! Like this game very much! But this week, It's very difficult and quite USA centred.

Gotta admit, that’s mostly what I know as far as sports. :( If I do another one, I’ll try to do some more research on other nations’ traditions in this arena. Can I ask where you’re based out of?
reply
India
reply
Nice! But hey! There’s at least one sport in there that I’ve heard is popular in India that NO ONE plays or follows over here.
reply
Finally! What is a footstall in equestrian? Is that where they stop the horse before it jumps into the water? Haha. Or is that supposed to mean the stirrups?
reply
Yeah, the "technique for soccer players" carried that clue hard lol
reply
Between this and keep track of my ongoing chess game with ek. I have done nothing today.
reply
Congrats!
Stirrups
reply
Haha thanks

Now the question is, are you going for the bounty? You just lowered the cost to entry significantly with posting the solved crossword.
reply
I will leave that for another brave soul. Have a couple things to do at home and then I have to go sort through a bunch of stuff I have had stored in my parent's basement for 2.5 years. Need to take advantage of a large disposal bin they have on site for some work being done in their yard.
If no one has claimed it by tomorrow, I will give it a shot.
reply
If I end up claiming the bounty, will the next crossword be alien themed?
reply
Hell yeah it will!

can i get some more hints on how the wallet seed phrase is formed? I did not understand that part.
reply
It's definitely supposed to be a riddle. It's a sports themed riddle.
reply
I have no clue what 15 across and 7 down are.
reply
Those are definitely the hardest ones!
reply
Just 15 across left. Very challenging. Your crosswords are getting better and the UX is better now too.
reply
We are neck and neck then! I should probably get back to work though...
reply
The champion returns!
reply
Thanks! I, just a minute ago, added an Easter egg to the ux for future sports territory puzzles. I’m kind of ashamed on getting called out on being that ignorant American. I should have remembered that this is an international community and hope to do one that better reflects that someday.
reply
You did add cricket as an answer and there is a question about soccer, which I cannot answer. Haha.

My problem is I figured everything else out so I have no more help coming. Haha.
reply
Hopefully someone will offer up a trade. I’ve got no clues to share!! Mwahaha
reply
I can't solve this

I think I solved the riddle, the xpub is

the second address is
bc1qfj5jteh2s9su46a5yqx83x45dvlcrvzkqupvtm
reply
So yeah, I mean we knew it was right when you shared the seed phrase, but that's the right xpub too! This one took a long time for someone to crack!
reply
Awesome! I’m setting up for work right now and then going nonstop until Monday, but I’ll be home late tonight and will try to check if you’re right. Otherwise, I’ll definitely do it Monday. If you can see that 7000 sats (actually a little less than that) that went in and out in transaction history, you definitely got it though.

The seed phrase is
cricket cricket cricket ball ball ball ball ball ball ball ball
i.e. three (one fourth of twelve, or the first quarter) times cricket, the rest ball
Looks like a nice job you got, break a leg!
reply
You got it!!!
reply
No one has claimed the bounty yet, but it looks like someone has figured out the riddle! Someone else has already sent them 7000 sats.
reply
LOL I sent those sats and forgot about this haha!
I figured the only way to get into the wallet is trial and error since the riddle seems less obvious to me this time, and I think I have 10/12 of the seed word. I thought the easiest way to tell if it's correct is make a transaction to it, so it has some history.
So someone already figured it out and just hasn't posted the xpub?
reply
There was a 16 minute delay between your sats getting there and them being removed. I don't know if that means a person was monitoring it VERY diligently or if a bot was put on this wallet some time back. Once you figure out the riddle, you'll know that the phrase has to be extremely low entropy.
reply
I see, I see. And just to be clear the riddle is this part:
There's a 12-word wallet in which one of these words swept the first quarter of the game and other word swept the rest.
reply
Yes, there are two answers in the crossword that are also BIP-39 seed phrase words. Once you know these words, you'll use them in conjunction with this cryptic message.
