Ichiro is a legend. Ohtani is better than Ichiro.
If he stays healthy (big if) and can continue to pitch and hit for many more years he will likely be known as the greatest player ever.
Ohtani is a bigger deal. Look at the ratings on television. Non baseball fans want to see him.
Its not about him being a bigger deal or better.
He is number 1 for other reasons.
He broke the Japanese barrier that was set for the longest time in American baseball.
I havent really watched baseball enough to know who is better.
I just know Ichiro is famous.
There was Kawasaki.
And Ohtani.
But Ichiro will forever be #1.
I think Ohtani has surpassed Ichiro's popularity in both Japan and the rest of the world.
Im sure he has.
But when I was introduced to baseball, it was Ichiro.
Ohtani may become the best, but he will never win as many gold gloves.
Terrible comparison
Let me add another: he is another Godzilla, Hideki Matsui
He is a very good player.
Another Ichiro.
