I have come up with a new idea to juice this territory’s weekly contest a little. Due to improved territory income on SN, I have decided to try the following:
  • Currently, I award a total of 2000 sats per week for Top Posts. The #1 Post gets half, and #’s 2-5 share the other half. Next week, I will award a total of 2000 sats OR the average daily award for the territory, whichever is higher. If it’s a success, I will make it permanent. If it works, I will be giving 14% of each week’s territory revenue to the top stackers.
  • This is a win-win. It will help the territory, while providing top posters the opportunity to earn more sats. I’ll see how it evolves, but eventually I would like this territory to be a place where high quality posts can start earning more sats on a regular basis.
  • I am looking for other ideas to improve the territory and share revenue with stackers. I would eventually like to vastly improve the pinned “Learning Resources” post, but that’s not practical until we get editable posts on SN.
All suggestions are welcome.

This seems like a good move. If income increases, the increased rewards will motivate the stackers.

Excellent point! Incentives are absolutely the way to move forward.

All good ideas. I would suggest a monthly and yearly reward as well.

I expect this new incentive to attract more stackers. I'll share my thoughts on transaction consolidation if I get a chance this week, but I'm still learning about it.

Great initiative! I think tough, that SN has reached the peak of its economy and content production for the current user-base, so it could be interesting to experiment with rewarding posts that attract new stackers, so that would motivate people to write and publish abroad. The one detail is that I don't know how could we measure how many new stackers a post brings...
reply
That would be nice. Let me know if you can think of a way to measure it.

The best way is to reward a post by how many comments of new stackers it gets, since any other metric is already rewarded by SN itself. So it can be just the traditional youtube "let me know what you think in the comments below". That will prompt authors to make posts that are compelling to new audiences in a way that's inviting for them to add to the topic or the debate. If we focus on that objective, everything else is already granted.

Please do not "award" anything to posts that are just links without any explanation. Bitcoin_beginners should be real post teaching noobs, not spam links without any content. Make them to show some PoW, don't let them assmilking you.
reply
I agree. I zapped two of your post links this week. That's because they were really good.
reply
No, please do not zap because are coming from me. I am not an exception. If I post a link without content is because I want people just to be aware of it and bookmark it in their personal bookmarks (as id when I see something interesting).
But for example if is a link from bitcoin.stackexchange that explain an interesting case and is not at least copy/pasted as text and at the bottom insert the source, it is mostly skipped by many.
At least if is an interesting question, post the answer as text.

One of your posts was the link to the LightningPub/Shockwallet video. That was a great video. By highlighting it as a top post more stackers will see it. I think there is a difference between a good link post and an assmilking (I finally learned!) post.
reply
not that was a great video , but also the back and forth follow up discussion between @justin_shocknet and the other guy testing it, was really interesting. I read it all.
I posted that video exactly for that, to spark interest and other people testing it. We need more discussions like those. That's why we have this powerful tool as SN.
