I think the second one must be harder. May be some of them could never get back to their normal shape. But the humid climate of Ethiopia, I think, helps them reshape their bodies. 

They do it temporarily for the ceremony and after it they eat very less to become normal. 
I wonder what takes them more time growing or losing weight?
