This "feature" will not be unique to the digital yuan. All CBDCs will have this feature, if not at the account level, definitely at the transaction level.
Use case: That $1200 USD stimulus check you got for COVID... wanna save it? Think again. That money is stimulus money... therefore you will be told where and by when you can spend it.
This is the control CBCDs will offer governments.
China is not unique here.
