I’m sort of tracking you, but not much. You’re response is both vague and intense, so I can’t quite follow your train of thought.
I took her talking about the “numbness” and disconnection from life and everything around her as anomie. Sometimes anomie is induced by the purposeful actions of somebody else to disrupt peoples’ lives. Those getting disrupted do not, perhaps, know what is happening to them.

ah, are you saying that all this anomie isn’t coming out of no wear or human frailty, but something else is causing it intentionally?

Yes, but I am somewhat paranoid about some of these “unexplained” things that are happening around us.
