In light of the upcoming changes to Stacker News' custodial lightning waller (#722833), many are having to look for alternatives. A great option if you have no experience with other wallets or running your own node is the minibits wallet (https://www.minibits.cash/). This wallet is available in the google play store or for download directly from github as an APK (sorry, i0s users...not available to you). This minibits custodial wallet comes with functionality you can use for both sending and receiving sats in Stacker News.
Receiving: Once you've downloaded your minibits wallet and opened it up, navigate to the 'contacts' page in the app. You will be automatically assigned a random ln address hosted by minibits. Use the copy link in the top right corner to copy that ln address.
Now, in Stacker News, navigate to the wallet page and click 'attach wallets.' Click the 'lightning address' option, and input your minibits ln address. Click the 'save' button and if all goes well, you will be pushed back the 'attach wallets' page and there will be a green light in the 'lightning address' section. Sats received on Stacker News will not be forwarded to your minibits wallet.
Sending: In your minibits wallet, navigate to the 'settings' page. Click 'Nostr Wallet Connect'. Click '+ Add Connection.' Customize the name of the connection and select a daily budget for your connection. Once saved, you will now have a nostr wallet connect string available. Click the icon next to the created string and a QR code will pop-up, as well as an option to copy this string.
Now, in Stacker News, navigate to the wallet page and click 'attach wallets.' Click the 'NWC' option. In the 'connection' field, copy the NWC string you created in your minibits app into this field and click 'save.' If all goes well, you will be brought back to the 'attach wallets' page and the NWC section will show a green light. You'll need to add some sats to your minibits wallet, but at this point you will be able to use sats in your minibits wallet to zap in Stacker News.
Conclusion: I think for users that do not want to run their own node, this presents one of the easier and best functioning choices for sending / receiving zaps in Stacker News. Also, its worth noting that the nwc connection relies on push notifications, so if you are using a non-google play store version of the app then the NWC connection may not work as well.

Keep in mind:

you must keep this app active on your mobile device in order to work properly the send / receive with NWC !
I've tested myself too and works pretty nice.

Yes, the graphene users will struggle with this option, but i imagine if you'd degoogled your phone you probably aren't opting for this user-friendly option anyways.

Is good to receive into that ecash. From there, once you accumulated enough, you move it into self-custodial LN channels.
IS A VERY GOOD DECOY not revealing / linking your private node.

yes thats true the receive option is great regardless of whether using google play store version of the app or not

Good write up. Maybe some non English natives won't realize the obvious typo which came at an unfortunate time:
Sats received on Stacker News will not [now]be forwarded to your minibits wallet.

A workaround to go from a custodial wallet to... * checks notes *... another custodial wallet. Just use cowboy credits and get a real ln⚡️ wallet if you're stacking enough sats

Thanks, I haven't tried this one yet.

Unless the app can run full tilt in the background, sending probably won't work when it's not open.

For the mobile stackers this could be an option. But again, why move from a custodial account to another? it doesn't make sense. Is self-custodial 100% or nothing.

yes i would hope this is temporary until you at least opt for like albyhub cloud

ill admit im not a big user of minibits wallet but i think if you are using with google play store downloaded version it works pretty well. Probably similar to how phoenix wallet needs the google push notifications to use bolt 12 effectively.
