Channel management is the thing I dislike most about the lightning network. This is a good start!
In my opinion Albyhub fixed this.
You can open 2 channels super quick from trusted and recommended sources through simple UI, and call it a day, you'll pretty much never need to rebalance or set fees (depending on what your using your node for). Its pretty simple quick and easy while being a solid sovereign option. I'd give it a look if I were you, times are changing.

My take? The best approach long term is to get a full node. Commercial off-the-shelf. MyNode, Start9, Umbrel, etc buy one of those and run a full Bitcoin Node and Lightning Node yourself. Once you do you never go back. That way it's on 24/7 and functions like a miniature home server - all your Bitcoin and lightning apps in one place.

I’m still on the fence about getting one. I may pull the trigger sometime

Honestly 100% worth it imo. Once you get a node you never go back. Using lightning from your own node that is up 24/7 alone makes it worth it imo

That's only if you're using Alby Hub on the cloud, though, is that correct?

A good start indeed since you don’t need to pay a large amount of sats (depending on the channel size).
