Maybe part of the streak is just not detaching it, along with an amount threshold.
Why else would I earn a horse at 7pm, and have it gone at 7am next day?
If I had earned a cowboy hat at 7pm, I'd have it the next day when I woke up, with a chance to earn the next day's streak etc..
