No but that’s just what it’s called because it features the national league champion vs the American League champion so they said the winner would be world champion.
It is the biggest championship in the world for baseball but I get it sounds kind of funny.

Guess it could have been national championship but they have the sub comps within . World champ sounds heaps better so I get it for the merch and brand of it. But it’s far from world wide for the comp is there such a comp like soccer World Cup?

Yes, they have an international competition every 4 years called the World Baseball Classic. Japan won the last one.
