Many moons ago, before I had my own business I managed retail stores. Halloween was the absolute worst because it was one of the busiest days of the year, no one wanted to work the evening, and corporate expected you to have the store changed over to Christmas the next day. It wasn't too bad if you had a mid week Halloween because you wouldn't get any corporate visits to check if the store was stocked and decorated for Christmas until the weekend but a Friday night halloween was the worst. I worked 36 hours straight one year to get ready for Christmas store visits.

Actually yes. At least by my regional director and VP. They loved me, and I was well compensated and rewarded for my above and beyond work ethic and results, until the moment I chose not to move to another city for a promotion. Then I was useless to them.
When they no longer have a carrot or a stick to hold over you they can no longer control you.
