Hmmm ……. The US had just gotten a load of Vietnamese that were airlifted out around that time. So, I don’t think it would have been too difficult to come to the US. There are lots of Hmong and other Vietnamese here in my local area, although I am not sure when they arrived. Of course, there is not much commercial fishing here because we are far inland.
