Fun fact. A fiddle and a violin are almost identical instruments.

But there are some physical differences. Some fiddles have a flatter bridge than violins, which brings the strings closer to the fingerboard. This makes it easier to play two or more notes at once, which is useful for the fast nature of fiddle music. Fiddlers also typically use steel strings, which produce a sharper sound than the gut or synthetic-core strings used by violinists.
