Well, you could make betting by BTC a thing to do! I suppose facilitating gambling with sats or BTC would gather some interest for the gamblers in the house. Making side- bets with each other might not entail any state interference.

They still need to develop a full lightning network sports book, but there are several websites with sports betting:

Freebitcoin mostly has soccer, but they put up other events seemingly at random
Nitrobetting is a pretty traditional sports betting site that uses bitcoin (not exclusively), but it doesn't allow lightning payouts.
Predyx is a new prediction market site that uses the lightning network and has a few sports outcomes.
The makers of Predyx are working on a LN sports book, but it isn't up and running yet.

It is a good thing I learned about gambling long ago in the dog tracks and Vegas!! I don’t do it any more. When I was gambling, I would only take as much as I could loose, loose it, then quit. I figured out that there was only the house to gamble against and they always win.
