The beautiful game is back. After almost two weeks of international matches, European teams are back to their national league over the weekend and return to continental tournament on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th.
On Tuesday, Barça will receive Brest, the surprise of this year. I must admit that I am willing that Brest keep on adding points and causing a shock to another big fish of European football. Young star, Lamine Yamal, is not clear that would be able to play against the French side. The good news for the Catalans is that Lewandowski is recovered. Barça has been able to add just 1 point out of the last 6 points played at La Liga. Yesterday, they earned a 2-2 draw after Celta scored 2 goals in the last 10 minutes of the match.
Also, an interesting clash will be the match in Lisbon, between Sporting and Arsenal. Last week, Sporting beat Man City 4-1. However, you should remember that their coach has left the team to join Man United over the internationals gap. It will be interesting to see whether they could repeat their performance. Arsenal has easily beaten Nottingham Forest in the Premiership, over the weekend.
Finally, on Tuesday, stackers should provide result of Bayern Munich vs PSG. The Bavarians beat Benfica just 1-0 the last week, as they were getting in trouble to qualify. Despite of this victory, they remain 17th in the table and should add more points to go through to the next round. PSG is also in need of points. They are out of the posts to qualify to the next rounds and they can’t afford losing more points. This clash looks thrilling.
On Wednesday, Real Madrid visits Anfield. Liverpool remains at the top of the table and Real Madrid, after losing against AC Milan last week, find themselves in unknown waters. Another loss would complicate their pass to the next round, so you could think that they will try to achieve a victory there. Not easy for the Merengues.
An interesting Monaco vs Benfica will decide whether the French side is able to remain at the top 8 as another French surprise. Portuguese started really well with 2 victories out of the first two matches. Then, they lost against Feyenoord and Bayern.
To close the day, Aston Villa and Juventus will play against each other to try recovering the pace towards straight qualification. Villa only could earn a draw against Crystal Palace, after missing a penalty. Juventus got also a draw in their visit to AC Milan on Saturday in Serie A, where they remain undefeated.
A great week of football we have ahead. Enjoy it!
