The Reluctant Debutant

I told my parents no
They said I was a beauty
I didn't want the attention
They said it was my duty

I cried and cried and cried
I was full of apprehension
They said it was important
I didn't want the attention

I didn't like the limelight
The concept of being presented
It made me want to vomit
I felt nothing but tormented

To be introduced into society
In such a ridiculous way
It's something I’ve always regretted
Still embarrassing to this very day

- Jeffrey Pipes Guice

It is a very beautiful poem, poetry always takes you and transmits everything that the person who writes it feels.
