Hey everyone,
I'm stoked to announce that a project that I've been working on for the past 1.5 years is starting to take shape.

Satoshee - The Winners' Club - is now online!

Have a gander: https://satosh.ee/

What is Satoshee?

Satoshee is website that offers its customers gift cards, exclusive discounts, as well as a lucrative Loyalty Program and Open Source Culture - an initiative support the creation and distribution of copyright-free media such as books, essays, art and audio.
Satoshee Strategy is, as the name implies, a Bitcoin-focused company, but not a Bitcoin company. The people using our services don’t necessarily need to use, own or even be interested in Bitcoin, but in order to get maximum benefits out of using the service, using Bitcoin and the Lightning Network is encouraged.

Some standout features of Satoshee:

  1. Bitcoin and Lightning are accepted for payments & incur a 2% discount
  2. Anyone can use the website and make purchases, even without registering an account
  3. Open Source Culture initiative to support the creation and distribution of copyright-free media
  4. Registered members can earn Bitcoin and discounts via the Loyalty Program
  5. Satoshee Gift Cards act as referral links
  6. The prices of premium memberships are based on the BTC price; memberships are for life
  7. nostr, X & Google login/account creation enabled

Who can use it?

Anyone can use our services. Most products can be purchased even without registering an account, while becoming a registered member automatically enrolls you in the Satoshee Loyalty Program, making you eligible for perks and bonuses offered within the program. Customers have the option to upgrade their membership level in order to earn higher bonuses from purchases, activity and/or get better discounts straight away. No subscriptions; memberships are for life. The membership levels are priced loosely according to the price of BTC (as per the 200-week simple moving average price) and are valid for life. Since a lot of the features of the memberships are still in the pipeline, they have been discounted by 40%. The discount rate will be lowered as more and more features get implemented. The prices on Satoshee Global are denominated in USD.

What does it solve?

Easing rising costs of living; inflation & stagflation pressures:

With the gift card and discounts part of the business, the idea is to help people fight stagflation and to get better value for their money. I like the acronym DBPDD (just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?), which has 2 interpretations: Discounts on Bulk Purchases Distributed Digitally Deflationary Bitcoin Power Distributed Digitally In the Satoshee business model, the 2 work in synergy. By doing so, we also support the companies we work with - by providing essentially short-to-medium term credit by buying gift cards in bulk - as well as introducing their products/services to the Satoshee members.

Lack of avenues to spend Bitcoin in the real world:

In a sense, Satoshee is also a competitor to Bitrefill and the likes. However, Satoshee does not deal with shitcoins; and doesn't shut its door to pre-coiners. People can use the website and purchase things also with other methods of payments (credit & debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.). However, there is a $20 USD minimum order size for all other payment methods aside from Bitcoin. In addition, paying in BTC also results in an additional 2% discount at checkout.

Lack of avenues to earn Bitcoin in the real world:

Via the Loyalty Program, people can earn Loyalty Points - as usual. However, on the Satoshee website the points can be exchange for BTC rewards via the Lightning Network. The program also entails in itself a lucrative referral program, whereas not only can you earn small percentages of what your friends spend for life, but you can also "refer" people by giving out Satoshee Gift Cards - the Satoshee Gift Card acts similarly to a referral link and if your friend decides to register an account when using the gift card, they automatically become your referral.

Lack of support for open source art:

In the recent years (especially within the Bitcoin circles) there has been a lot of emphasis on the importance of free and open source software. However, culturally, this idea of "build and give it away for other people to use," is still in its infancy. With Open Source Culture, we want to incentivize the creation of copyright-free media and to help bring the ideas of V4V (Value-for-Value) & digital abundance into the spotlight.

What's coming?

  • More partnerships, especially with companies outside of the Bitcoin circle
  • Unique customization options for gift cards
  • Region-specific subsites and the ability to earn Loyalty Points in whatever jurisdiction you're currently in
  • Plenty of contests and raffles
  • Profit-sharing with power users

Please note that there are still currently a few technical hiccups:
  1. The referral links / codes don't work
  2. "Download now" links from product pages don't work
These issues should be solved soon though and don't affect anything else on the website.

Congrats @Kontext!
All the best for the project.
additional 2% discount at checkout.
This means we get 4% discount?
reply
Thank you! 🤠 As for the discount, this depends on the particular product and what the original discount rate (if any) is. For example currently we have Coinkite gift cards at a 5% discount whatever the payment method is. When paying in BTC there's additional 2% deducted from that discounted price at checkout. In addition, if you're registered on the website, then you get 1% back in Loyalty Points (calculated from the displayed price) as well.
So math wise, let's take $100 USD gift card: -5% original discount: $95 regardless of the payment method or whether you are registered or not. -2% BTC payment discount (from $95): $93.10 when paying in BTC whether you are registered or not. +1% bonus in Loyalty Points for registered members (from $95): $0.95 or 950 LP credited to your account (can be used for future purchases or Lightning withdrawals, 1000 sats minimum). So in total your best price would be $93.10 + $0.95 LP bonus = $92.15 net.
Hope this helps :)
I'll add some examples of the calculations to the FAQ soon as well.

Thank you so much sir. It's perfectly clear now.

Thank you sir. This is great initiative. Please bring in some gift card options for India. Also make sure that we can exchange sats anytime for any amounts so as to buy products when required.

I am always looking to add to my Satoshi Stack via loyalty and rewards. I am looking forward to checking this out more!

Great to hear! For sure, keep an eye on the site and any further updates/improvements (I really hope I can find a fix for the referral issue soon) as well as socials. I've done some contests and giveaways on nostr a few times now already even before launching the site and there's certainly more to come :) npub1p6y243ek340jtqjr0qnqg2elkw3x5yn08kzhvxxxkejj486mlg9qtnwx3t

Great initiative!

Congrats on the launch! Are you working on a native app as well?
reply
Thank you! 🤠
No plans for an app as of now. Top priorities for now are onboarding additional companies (especially from outside the BTC circle) and including more international offers. Also I don't want to have an app just for the sake of having an app. If a normal website makes more sense I'd stick with that. That being said, I could theoretically see a future where there's tons and tons of gift cards and/or discounts on Satoshee - so maybe you go ahead and open the Satoshee app and see a map of all the businesses (and their reviews) in your vicinity where you can spend your sats or get some bangin' discounts, so who knows :) Perhaps someday, if it makes sense. For now I'll stay focused on getting this thing off the ground.
