I did see he was extremely popular in the beginning but after a decade or so he started to fall off, the 1970s seemed to slowly but steadily degrade his standing.
I totally forgot about his daughter but I do vaguely remember that... Almost like the current President of the Philippians Marcos whose dad was that ruthless dictator decades ago...
Edit turns out Marcos and the South Korean martial law stuff overlap quite a bit as he ruled the Philippians from 1972 to 1981 under martial law and was President of the Philippians from 1965 to 1986
