A few years ago, during the bull market, people speculated about how Bitcoin would ascend to $100k one day. Memes depicting $100k Bitcoin were the rage on social media platforms.
I followed suit, treating Bitcoin as a speculative asset, wanting to swap it for more fiat to elevate my quotidian existence.
Then, various altcoin scams exploded. Several noteworthy crypto exchanges collapsed. People lamented about how they had entered the market at $69k Bitcoin. The mood was gloomy.
I have since assimilated into the ethos of SN. Chop wood, carry water. Stay humble, stack sats. Bitcoin isn’t just a tool for solving financial needs; it exemplifies the Stoic philosophy. Of how I can remain in control of my emotions and respond rationally, even if the world is tumbling around me.
Today, Bitcoin shot past $100k. The mood was celebratory, to say the least.
I realise that I am delighted but not too euphoric. It’s business as usual, as I try to see how I can live the Bitcoin Standard one day. Which honestly speaking is a bit hard because I doubt my government will dish out my salary in sats any time soon. But I have been making use of my SN earnings to buy grocery and food takeout vouchers. I am doing better than last year.
Perhaps I just need to wait for greater BTC adoption in my nation. Or push for advancement myself when my kids are a bit older.
How about you? Are you still the same person you were when you got into Bitcoin?

Through bitcoin I mustered up the will to become a parent at a relatively young age.
It was a combination of hope for the future and also Trace Mayer dropping a comment that it is the most intrinsically fulfilling endeavor for a human.
So, no, I'm not at all the same person. 3 kids now.
reply
I admire those who cross the chasm between 2 kids and 3 kids. I have two kids now n can tell you I cannot imagine myself doing it again haha. The loss of time, no freedom, sensory overload, sibling disputes, tantrums etc. you are the man!

Awesome. Good to hear it.

I'm actually a little "sad" today. BTC didn't rise, BTC is still one BTC. It is the fiat money that crashed, and we all knew it would happen. Even the "sadder" part is that this is just the beginning... The fiat will crash even further. So, as the old saying goes, "Stay humble, stack sats," but at the end of the day, I'm the same, you are the same, and we all are... We still have to go to work :-) And I'm glad I do what I like. YMMV.

You have a wonderfully sanguine attitude! Glad that you like what you do for a living. Bitcoin is just one aspect of our lives

I can safely say that I am not the same. They can call me names but the revenge of the Bitcoin Nerds is the title of this real life movie. Congratulations to all of us who endured the verbal bashing that never worked. Only stacking works.

Good to meet a fellow nerd

Well, this morning, I, for one, elected to brew, instead of the Costco house brand coffee, the imported Mexican blend, which I normally reserve for my weekend morning reading.
Otherwise I remain humble.

It’s great to luxuriate in some small luxury now n then!

Nothing much changed in me. I was humble then and is humble still. I like this feeling of euphoria but Bitcoin is pulling me back to experience more euphoria. Thanks a lot Bitcoin and you guys. I may not be stacking much but SN community is better than 99% of the Clearnet.
reply
True that. The community here is top notch

The Bitcoin experience is more difficult than Zen Buddhism. I received a lot of heckling all the time. Loyalty to Bitcoin is humility inducing until you reach a point when they are asking questions about Bitcoin. These nasty people with Bitcoin Derangement Syndrome just forgot how they treated me before 100K milestone was reached. The Psychological advantage is now in my favor. And I am still humble thanks to Bitcoin.
reply
I am not the same. After all has been said and done only those who remained loyal to Bitcoin shall be rewarded. The skeptics will be bothered by their arrogance for as long as they live.
reply
Still toxic, still never selling, still stacking! 100k is just fun memes and to generate no coiner tears, other than that, nothings changed!

Learning about bitcoin has 100% made me a smarter and more considerate person and has increased my time preference in life. I've learned about economics, the history of money, how electric grids work, humanitarian issues etc.
I now hate governments A LOT more than I ever did too, which is probably a good thing.
It's been a wild ride.
It's also been very satisfying to see all the people that said 100k was impossible silenced. Just the thought of all the buttcoiners sucking on copium is delicious.
Now I look forward to watching btc continue to eat the world and break everyone's mind.

Humble, and stacking even harder. I remember when bitcoin crossed 10k a few years ago. It felt the same... Sky's the limit....

These two lines resonate:
Chop wood, carry water. Stay humble, stack sats... I am doing better than last year.
Definitely.
And no, changed person. Much more cynical, much less willing to give fucks, much less able to put up with nonsense.

Im the same. I havent spent a single SN sat yet.

Hm, there's 400k in the link in his bio profile but SN says he stacked 750k. Yes?
reply
Okay, I wanted to address this so you arent confused. Yes, it does show that I did stack 750k. But I also spent a portion of it on SN, so I wasnt able to pull those sats off. But if you check the top stackers, you can see how much I have stacked and how much has been used. Just a heads up.
reply
You are one smart cookie. I wonder where the rest went?

you probably spent it on SN

As you said ek, some people are always right. If you did the math, you would know 98% is in that wallet.
