I know it's a bit late to ask this, but out of pure curiosity, is anyone in the US using the Phoenix Wallet without any issues? Since it has been delisted from the US App Store, can you still use the Phoenix Wallet for creating or closing new channels?

I used phoenixd on my AlbyHub on Umbrel, which has a similar backend / dependence on the ACINQ node. That is still working, but it is technically self custody.

Phoenixd works very well. I have it on my laptop and I've spun it up and played with it. I'm in the US. I have Phoenix wallet and I've haven't used it in a while.
Zeus is a good choice for running a node on your phone and it works on chain and L2. I've recently played with it.

I also use Zeus, Breez, and Strike. However, with Zeus and Breez, I mostly encounter "no route found" errors, which I believe is because they don't have many channels open(when compare to Acinq's). Acinq has a lot more channels, so I think the Phoenix Wallet might be a better option.

no route found
Is mostly because your Zeus is not synced. Zeus is using Neutrino to sync the blocks and that is quite different than Phoenix that is using electrum SPV.
Please read carefully the Zeus FAQ, it is described there your situation https://docs.zeusln.app/for-users/embedded-node/faq Here I explained in more details about Zeus and neutrino peers https://darth-coin.github.io/wallets/getting-started-zeus-wallet-en.html And here you have an advanced guide for Zeus https://darth-coin.github.io/wallets/zeus-node-advanced-usage-en.html

I was worried about this and switched away, but switched back and no problems. Phoenix far and away most reliable and easy to use

still completely usable, just cant download from google or apple app stores ( you can,use aurora store, or download the apk directly from github). and if you simply load up a new google account in playstore and vpn in from another country, you can download it in the google play store ( cant speak for apple store).

I thought that Phoenix might somehow block IPs from the US, so it's great to see that it still maintains censorship resistance, lol.

their product is better than everyone else's and i think they wisely curtailed US usage while administrative state was coming after the big players ( hopefully thats over for now). they literally set up the bare minimum barrier and the result was people think its banned in US, but most people cant see past the playstores so it kinda worked perfectly for them, imo. i bet theyll be back in playstore in 2025 at some point.

Yeah, it works just fine. I installed the .apk from GitHub, but I still get automatic updates from the Play Store whenever a new version is released.

You just discovered the main reason I ditched iPhones.

Ah, that's a bummer!

Using the APK, you can run the app.
However, I stopped using them after I had a channel force close on me. I'm guessing it was because of my IP address. Since then I haven't tried.

channels on different phones, app downloaded from github, work with no problems. however, "U.S." is a legal construct, so i don't consider playing within the monopoly when using phoenix service... or any other bitcoin software for that matter. it looks like i use it in the U.S., but that is a presumption that can be dispelled when needed. i haven't gotten around to downloading phoenixd.

Nice try, Fed.
