Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.
Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!
We're open round the clock, so mosey on in whenever you please!
Arrived in Austin, let me know if there is a good bar you recommend to spend some sats on Wednesday night :)

I wonder if some of these bitcoiners turned altcoiners were always into alts and got bored pretending they weren't, or as their performances would indicate, they got bored/frustrated with bitcoin itself.
I suspect it was the former but you never really know.
reply
altcoiners
call them as they are: shitcoiners. There's no such thing as alt-coins. There's no alternative coins to Bitcoin, only shit-coins. Perfectly explained here:
reply
Perhaps they just saw the fiat “profit” in altcoins that they couldn’t see in BTC. I think that they may have been scammed.

Somebody recommend me a new wallet since Alby is getting closed.
Lightning, custodial, ln-adress for SN.
reply
What do you mean alby is getting closed?
reply
They want everybody to move to the paid version or setup their own Hub. The custodial free version is closing on Jan 3rd.

Bout to pitch to my HOA that we should hold 2% of our cash balances in bitcoin hahaha wish me luck
reply
Good luck
reply
Are they all normies or do some of them know about BTC? One way or the other, give it all you have.
reply
All normies
reply
Good luck with them. They are all probably stuck in the fiat POV, then, To sell it you’ll have to approach it from the point of view that they will profit, in fiat, from making the move. Give them a little FOMO, by telling them you are looking for the BTC to be worth a lot more in a short time.
reply
It is an excellent initiative, I hope they listen to you.
reply
i hope you can spark a deep forgotten neuron in someone on the committee.
reply
I just met them last night. Let’s see how this goes. I’m asking for a 1% to 5% allocation then I said it can prevent HOA fees from going up.
reply
68 sats \ 1 reply \ @zapsammy 8 Dec
in sats terms, the fees will down forever, but in fiat-money terms the fees must go up forever, regardless of whether they use sats or dollars.
will u explain to them the sat-standard?
reply
I’ll try. Thing is they might say “it’s not in the by-laws” but I would also need a custodian as well that we can trust and pass down to future HOA members

I'll use this space since I noticed that the Ask Stacker territory is not available.
It's simple, on the platform there are some Spanish speakers and others who understand Spanish. The Spanish territory is also not available. And although we can use our limited or extensive knowledge of English as a language, or use good translation tools, it is never the same as speaking in the native language.
That's why I ask the administrators of the platform:
WILL THERE BE A PROBLEM IF SPANISH SPEAKERS USE SPANISH IN OUR POSTS AND COMMENTS?
It's just a question. I am infinitely grateful to this platform for what it has meant to me in all aspects.
reply
I suppose you could set up territory where everyone could use Spanish, couldn’t you?
reply
That territory exists. It's just archived. Unfortunately I can't maintain a territory. I wish I could.
reply
Could you get a group together to constitute a territory? That might work for you.
reply
I am also Latino and the Latin American language or the Spanish language is so rich, English has taught me a lot since I started my path in bitcoin. I have learned a lot of English, but the Spanish language is truly rich in its variety and essence.

Nothing of what you love is lost. Not really. Things, animals, people - they always leave, sooner or later. You can't hold onto them, just as you can't hold onto moonlight. But if they have touched you, if they are within you, then they are still yours. The only things you ever truly have are those you keep in your heart.

Happiness Journal 8/12/24
I have been married to a Japanese lady for ten years. Barring the COVID years, I have been visiting Japan at least once every year. But this year is the first year in which I feel that my experiences as a father and as a member of a multi-generational household come to a boil, helping me put two and two together, formulating hypotheses for observations of Japanese society that are generally known by Japanophiles. Sensei has his own unique point of view with regard to why the Japanese are fanatical about food. 🍱 Why many Japanese people still care so much about getting married and having children? Why do they think that that is the ONLY way to attain happiness? Not only that, my blog is alive and kicking this year. And despite my commitments, I can hardly wait to flesh out my hypotheses on the screen for the world to critique and criticise.
I have always wanted to be a cool writer like Pico Iyer, who writes so evocatively about Japan that I want to weep. But I think I don’t need to be as good as him. If I write stuff that only I am uniquely qualified to write about, there is room in the Universe for me.

The moment when you realize that you have grown out of your "home country," the place where you were born, I've been feeling a bit disconnected from them for a while, but I am on the journey of becoming myself.
reply
You will connect with yourself much more thoroughly and realize that you are “home” no matter where you are. You are you and other things are not you. Especially things are not you, so you can disconnect from a lot of those “things” and still be yourself.

My daughter is going through a similar experience. I emigrated with her when she was a baby and we haven't even returned to visit the place where we were born. She speaks up and says she feels sad about not knowing the place where she was born. I like the perspective you focus on. It doesn't matter where you are or where you come from, this is a journey to get to know yourself.
